Good. Would have killed the team this year if he was on the tag.

So Dak and Zeke are getting all the cap. Makes no sense. Things like this are reason they have not been winning championships for years.

This. 30% of your cap in two players who aren't even top 5 at their position.

Zeke was the mistake imo, not Dak.

To be fair Zeke was arguably #1 when they signed him.

Agree. The Zeke capitulation costs Jerry money with Dak.

But it's about his position, not where he ranks within it.

That, and the fact that he had two years left on his deal.

Not arguing that. I agree they shouldn't have paid him.

His agent schooled the Jones boys. Is he even going to be the same player after his surgery?

#1 at a position where the drop off from top to avg is not very noticeable

To be fair we needed defense when we blew the pick on Zeke.

When will qbs take note of what the patriots and Brady did for years. Brady was never the highest paid qb in the league. Which allowed bill to build a team around the qb.

Show me a team with worse contracts for their QB, RB, and Top WR.

Dak is Top 2
Zeke is Top 3
Cooper is Top 4

Not a single one of them is paid their actual value relative to their peers. That's some seriously crappy money management!

Easy model to follow- get the greatest QB in NFL history to volunteer to take less money b/c his wife makes 3x his salary

How is ol Bellicheck doing now with all that cap space Cam provided hime?

That's not how this works though. The market is the market. Revisit in a couple years.

Sure Tom is great, but he didn't win those championships without a team around him. And sure his wife has made a ton of money, but Tom has made far more money in endorsements than he has in his salary,
taking a pay cut led to championships and that led to huge endorsement deals.

What qb has signed one of these ridiculous contracts and then won a super bowl?

Correct. How is this so hard for people to understand. When josh Allen and Lamar Jackson sign their deal, Daks will drop. These salaries don't work on a meritocracy type of scale.

It's NOT how it works!

Well when TB has won or played in over half of them since he's been in the league that kind of skews the data a little. I believe Brady was actually the last to do it. Doesn't change the fact this is a QB driven league and you can't win without a good one....which Dak definitely is. Biggest Question to me is can the Jones's and McClay manage the cap enough/ draft well enough to put the Boys in position to do so.

Zeke was #10 in RB rushing yards in 2020. Zeke was also a fumble machine. Pollard averaged more yards per carry and definitely felt like he did a better job picking up 3rd down conversions. I'd entertain arguments Zeke isn't the best RB on the Cowboys anymore.

But it does...it's a repeated pattern of this organization overpaying. Zeke showed plenty of signs of slowdown and loss of interest in taking football seriously prior to the contract. Cooper will never be the team leader, outspoken, reliable play maker he's paid to be. Neither Zeke or Cooper are Top 10 at their positions but they are paid Top 5 money. Dak isn't even in the same stratosphere as Mahomes yet he's Top 2 in money. It's all related, and it's all bad for the Cowboys.

What would you have the cowboys do then? Dak is a top 5-7 QB in the league. You don't just let those walk. Especially considering the conference has literally no promising young QBs in the fold.

Wilson is probably the youngest at 32 and will be 33 this year.

We don't know all the options the Cowboys had or will have had going forward so it's impossible to say what they should have done. It's pretty easy to say what they should not have done though. They should not have paid Top 2 money to a QB coming off a major injury who is NOT Top 5 when perfectly healthy.

It's also pretty easy to see how the NFL QB market works. Dak gets paid more if he walks, period. He's right on the edge of top 5 and was on his way in 2020 to being in the top 5 before his injury.

Dak is good but Top 5? There is only 4 QBs you'd rather have in Dallas?

I said he was on his way before injury. He literally led the nfl in Passing 2 weeks after his injury. He was on pace to blow several records away.
