So there has been ridiculous speculation that the 49ers could trade Garrpapolo to the Pats for Brady.

This is one of the most absurd things I've seen and shows how desperate media gets once the NFL offseason hits.

My question is regarding NFL trade policy. Brady played out his contract and is now an unrestricted FA. How can the Pats trade him. My understanding is that he his searching for a landing spot that might be a good end to his career and would simply sign with that team without Pats receiving any compensation.

brady is a FA and can do what he wants. the most likely scenario is he winds up back in NE. SF moving on from garoppolo to bring brady in is ludicrous.
