I think it's a thumb injury for Brees.

Unbelievably bad call against the Saints. First, I think it was a fumble.

Second, let the play run out. That was point of emphasis with officiating.

The NFL officials are so very bad. Whoever blew the play dead should be suspended without pay for the rest of the year. Or just fire his ass for professional incompetence.

I don't think so. The officials are just incompetent. They are too old, too slow, and there is no accountability. Goodell will issue a statement on Monday telling the Saints, "sorry you got screwed again."

Latest update is he is going to see a hand specialist in LA next week. Doesn't sound like good news I would guess a flexor tendon injury.

I get that line of reasoning, but at the same time I hate the idea of refs second guessing themselves. If they are confident in a call, they should make it, as opposed to officiating to the system.

Well, whether the line of reasoning is there or not, that approach is what the NFL had decided was best and it was supposed to be a point of emphasis. They can always let the play continue and make a definitive call at the very end. I don't really consider a pause before blowing your whistle a second guess.

I would drop him. I find the 6 week timeline to be very optimistic for surgical repair of a thumb tendon in your throwing hand. I think 6 weeks in stasis then start rehab.

I agree. I am a big fan of Brees but I think his career is over. He was declining pretty fast just due to age.... some people would say he went over a cliff late last season and now that he'll be returning while nursing this injury and another year old he will not be great again. He might be good enough to start but he won't be Drew Brees that we are used to seeing.
