Kraft gave him more money. Wonder if he also had reservations about Luck's health

McDaniels pulled a Belichick on the New York Jets from back in the day.

What it means is HCIW and Bill is retiring after next season most likely.

McDaniels better hope so. That's a bad look for him.

probably a combination of Luck's health and a possible Belichick retirement.

however he could have still taken the Indy job and then gone back to NE 1 or 2 years later

I imagine he didn't want to risk the chance of crashing and burning and his stock being completely depleted. Kinda like what happened the first time he tried to be a HC.

Guess he figured the raise made it worth waiting Bill out as an OC.

I've wondered something these days...

Do these guys really need agents?

I can see when things were not as transparent in the past, but now things seem to be pretty transparent. I mean other coaches salaries are disclosed so you know what the next guy is making. Seems you could save those agents fees.

I don't think it's a matter of not knowing what to ask for but more that if they have an agent they don't have to field calls, negotiate, etc.

They can essentially tell them where they would want to coach and how much they want to make. This way the coaches don't have to sell themselves, answer calls, go to meetings, or handle any of that.

Kinda like I know what my house is worth but I still hire a realtor to do the leg work.
