I know its just preseason but typical Garrett coached team...twice on 3rd downs throwing well short of the first down markers. Guys had no chance of getting the 1st either time.

You don't like the 2 yard checkdown on 3rd and 9? Especially when they go to it so quickly that it appears to be the first read?

But that Cooper Rush throws a nice ball... Definitely can't let him get away, we'll have to carry 3 QBs on the roster or somebody else will snatch him up. Or, shoot, he might start pressing Moore for the backup job.

And if pure athleticism is the only factor (which it isn't) Gathers and Brown are making this team. Those guys are gifted.

Just some mental notes I've been making...

Xavier Woods has shown up well. Not gonna push to start necessarily, but he's noticeable and that's good for a rookie.

McCown looks like the definition of a JAG. I'm wondering what his trick was that allowed him to hide out in the league for so long... Very average arm strength and ball placement.

Taco. Guy played some ball tonight. Looked good on the pass rush. Looked good against the run. He's got a lot of work to do, but tonight was a good night for our #1.

on upside alone i think they should keep Rush.

obviously lets see how he does the rest of the preseason but if he continues to trend up or even maintain, i think you are taking a huge risk trying to get him to the practice squad.

Moore looked good last week. It's obvious he's a guy who will see a blitz and hit the quick hot everytime even on 3rd and 9. Wade was bringing some heat and Moore looked scared. I really hope we don't ever need him.

Moore is check down charlie at the 1st sign of trouble. I never have understood his appeal to the coaching staff.

Rush won't make it through practice squad if he continues on this path for the next three games. Cowboys need to keep him and continue to watch the wire for another QB2. Cowboys need to take the Patriots approach and see if they can develop good backups.

Time for Moore and McCown to go.
