At times, but not too frequently. We work with some Land Services folks who need Surveyors and Survey Techs - sometimes that bleeds into GIS work that they do, but not too often to be honest.

Regardless - always happy to talk about if you'd like. Shoot me an email if so.

What does the RPLS market look like right now? I'm starting to get worried about the next round of layoffs at my company

It's pretty good across Texas. Demand is still far out-pacing the number of licensed Surveyors. (Unless you're surveying primarily for Oil & Gas / Energy projects)

Happy to connect to chat through, if interested!

I primarily do electric transmission, and my main client's work is heavily tied to O&G development. Which is why I'm in a pickle.

That you for the response though. I will definitely reach out if **** hits the fan.

Sounds good!

For future reference, have one consulting firm client that does a ton of Gas, Power, and Telecom surveying as well. Big clients in that arena are Centerpoint, Austin Energy, Atmos Gas, Entergy, AT&T, Verizon.

Is the pay associated with Civil/Water Resources making any real improvements compared to other engineering disciplines? Water Resources has been a good job market since the past 20 yrs (and not likely to go away) since I finished school but was always weak by engineering standards.

I'm in the civil field, for a civil firm which does water resources, transportation, stormwater, treatment, planning, transmission / utilities etc. Plus MEP, Structural, environmental, PgM and Construction Services. And some more. Can't compare pay to many since I haven't worked in the field for anyone else, but seems stable and competitive. Most of our clients are public. I believe we are starting new grads at about $65K. Up from there.

@PellsBells09, do you ever recruit for less technical or non-design oriented positions in Water Resources? Maybe something more policy oriented or sustainability related role, for example.

Civil Infrastructure still generally pays less than "Oil & Gas", if that's the question. But obviously more stable and less prone to the geopolitical factors that can decimate Energy in an afternoon.

If Water Resources v. the rest of Civil disciplines (like Transportation, Traffic, Land Development)... Transportation Design Engineers are likely commanding the highest salaries of the disciplines overall, but Water Resources is not far behind it. Some discipline management/leader roles paying upwards of $200k salaries, not including bonuses, profit-sharing, etc.

I mainly work on technical roles from Graduate Engineer/EIT up through Department/Office Head. City Planning, Sustainability, etc. is not typically something I am equipped to help with.

Hope this helps.

Could you share a redacted job description representative of that top end pay range? Happy to take offline from TA if you prefer.

Actually have had one or two of these guys looking in the recent past there in SA. Let me know if you're in need and open to working with a recruiter.

Otherwise - any SITs (or survey tech hopefuls) reading this post should contact Yelnick directly FO SHO.
