counter with the base you believe is fair for your experience and the job you're applying for.

bonus target is favorable, so I'd leave that alone. at many larger companies bonus targets are fixed according to job level. Unless this is a sales position the bonus target may have a low probability of being negotiable.

The higher you move up in total compensation, the higher the percentage of incentive compensation.

When I have changed jobs, I have said that I need to be guaranteed in base salary at least the total comp I'm getting now, otherwise its not worth the risk to move. You are leaving a known for an unknown. You could get over there and end up with no bonus for some reason and have now moved backwards.

Oh, and never tell them your salary, tell them what you need to be making.

If you're earlier in your career, don't take moves for less than 10% more in base, ideally 20. Total comp should increase 25-30% or more.
