Position Description
The Health and Safety (H&S) function contributes to the success of EDP Renewables NA (EDPR) by ensuring regulatory compliance and implementing a proactive approach towards worker safety across multiple locations. The H&S Associate will support the EDPR agenda to develop and implement H&S management processes and drive continuous improvement across all business lines.

Position Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
3 5 years of Health & Safety experience in power or a related industry
OSHA training (30-hour 500 or 501 certification preferred)
Preferred knowledge:
Experience in tower climbing/rescue
Experience and/or knowledge of HV electrical
Experience with cranes & rigging
Experience with heavy equipment and trucking
Experience and/or knowledge of excavation and trenching

Main accountabilities:
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills to coach, develop, and influence various teams
- Maintain industry-standard H&S and LEAN procedures and assist in developing best-in-class management practices
- Establish measureable H&S and quality benchmarks for construction, operations, and other office activities
- Monitor and audit compliance and H&S processes at assigned construction and operating sites
- Define and review H&S requirements for contractors and suppliers
- Assist with quantitative and qualitative analysis; demonstrating a strong drive to troubleshoot problems and design solutions
- Support various activities spanning the asset management life cycle such as business and technical issues analyses, software design/testing/deployment, clear interpretations of H&S procedures and policies, and investigate reported incidents
- Review and approve safety related corrective and preventative action requests to maintain ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001certifications
- Assist field teams (operations and construction) to identify key H&S risks and provide recommendations to eliminate or reduce risks
- Assist with development and delivery of safety and health training programs including those designed to meet OSHA, state, and EDPR requirements
- Be an advocate for H&S within the company by driving a strong safety culture in administrative offices and on the field
- Perform at a fast pace with self-motivation and strong initiative

Physical demands & working conditions:
- Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on wind farm sites. Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment.
- Walking: Ability to walk .25 to .5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on wind farm sites
- Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Lifting: Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 60 pounds and to occasionally lift items weighing between 60 and 100 pounds Climbing:
- Ability to climb turbine towers up to 95 meters in height approximately as needed
- Weight, including harness and tools, must be in accordance with the weight limit as specified by the ANSI Fall Protection Standards
- Vision/Hearing: Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions: Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time while on wind farm sites
- Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
