How long do you want to ignore this user?
Short summary: I'm an attorney that's practiced law for about 9 years in a pretty technical area of the law. I've built a successful practice over the last several years from scratch, but the short of it is I just don't want to practice law for the rest of my life. I believe I could do really well in a business development/sales role in another area, largely because I really enjoy that aspect of my business and have successfully grown my practice from its inception doing just that. There are so many lawyers that want to get out of the profession, but many feel trapped and just keep sticking it out. I don't want that to be me.

I've thought about this for a few years now, and have really honed in on this being the profession I'd love to transition into. Any thoughts, insight, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

What type of law do you practice? It would probably be easiest to transition into a sales role within that type of industry.

If your expertise is in land, I have been thinking it would be nice to have a land specialist on my BD team, but I'd prefer they live in Midland or Pecos or Big Spring.

This is something I've thought about quite a bit. I do think it makes sense to leverage my background in the profession. I'm particularly interested in the legal technology field, because I truly believe the law as a profession tends to be a bit behind the times in terms of adaptation, particularly with technology. I guess I'm just trying to get a firm grip on how to really go about doing this, other than simply looking online at job boards.
