I am a Sophomore Meteorology major and I am looking for a job that will pay anywhere from $12-$15 an hour for this upcoming semester. Available weekdays M-Thursday 4-10 PM and Fridays and Saturdays all day. Please let me know if anything comes up!

I had similar availability while in school. I found waiting tables to be a great job.

As a fellow student who has worked a couple different jobs in my four years, good luck finding something between $12-$15 period... and with those hours your options are even more limited.

Hit up Rudys or HEB. Don't get hung up on the hourly rate just work more hours. 12-15 bucks for that specific of a time slot may be difficult.

Banquet server at the Hilton or one of the country clubs would be a good option.

Bartender at Buffalo Wild Wings for 6 months where I actually made $18-$19 an hour over the summer. That was tip based, however, I was quick, efficient, and made a damn good drink.

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook 7 days ago, maybe it helps you or anyone in CS.

College Station residents - we have multiple customer service openings for a company in CS! They have both part-time and full-time openings paying $13-14/hr! If you would like some more information please email me at elpidar@burnettspecialists.com. Please send and share with anyone you know who would be interested as well!

Waiting Tables is the only answer here. It's fun and you're rewarded for hustling. You can easily make $300 on a weekend. In 2006 I had no problem paying my rent with a weeks work. People working for minimum wage sitting on their a$$ in a bookstore or something are suckers.

I find it kind of hilarious someone about to get a degree isn't worth 12$/ hr but as soon as they get the magical piece of paper are worth 45-100k. It's the same person and I bet most of what they do on the job won't be what they learned at college anyways. I think Reynolds and Reynolds in college station actually takes advantage of this market inefficiency by paying engineering students around 12-15 for roughly the same quality of work.

college station is probably an over-saturated market. wages will be low-ish because there is plenty of competition.

A sophomore isnt about to get their degree.

Also, if they were available to work full time, it would be easier for an employer to justify paying them that much above minimum wage, but when you are having to hire 3-4 people to essentially do what 1 full time person could do, you arent worth it. Especially for a student looking to only work Friday and Saturday. You can almost bet that as soon as this student turns 21, you they will call in at least once from being hung over, or quit all together. Their schedule will change with each semester, and they arent guaranteed to be available during the summer, winter break, or spring break.

If this person was at least willing to work 20-30 hours a week even, it would be easier to justify a higher pay.

This is not necessarily true for all businesses. A lot of companies pay benefits for employees at 30+ hours. So if I can get 2-3 really hard working 20 yr olds who will work 15-20 hours a week w/o benefits, it is 15-20% more work and likely cheaper than a full time employee.

Every company and what they need from their workforce is different.

I had a job that paid $10 hr in high school back in the 80s after the first 6 mos, because I proved I worked hard, was trustworthy, didn't complain, and didn't waste company time ($$).
