We were up visiting A&M and a student guide told us A&M has a goal of 25,000 freshmen by 2025. Has anyone else heard of this???

She misspoke. The 25 x 25 initiative for the College of Engineering has been in place for sometime. They are counting those numbers from the main campus and several other satellite campuses that funnel students to the main campus.

You can read more here about it. https://engineering.tamu.edu/25by25/index.html

That is correct. A good bit of the 25 x 25 for Engineering is an online MS program.

This is one reason why people we know are looking at schools like Auburn, MS state, etc. . . Talk about being just a number.

When you combine this with ETAM, size of the student body, cultural drift at A&M, and scholarship money, it can become an easy decision. Both of those schools, for example, have been described as more like A&M of the past than A&M is today.

These out of state schools really want good Texas students that A&M seems to care nothing about.
