My son is getting ready to start HS. He is interested in computer science / programming (definitely not my strong suit). His counselor told him "some" colleges accept HS computer science as their foreign language credits.

Does anyone know if A&M does this, and an easy way to find out other colleges that do / don't?

2 years of the same foreign language
  • American Sign Language is acceptable and will satisfy Texas A&M graduation requirements for all Bachelor of Science degrees.
  • Computer Science is acceptable for admissions purposes but will not satisfy Texas A&M graduation requirements.

8. Complete the Foreign Language requirement. A minimum of one year of foreign language is required for all baccalaureate degree programs at Texas A&M. For many programs, this degree requirement can be satisfied by the satisfactory completion of two units of the same foreign language at the high school level or one year of the same language at the college level.

Seems dumb

Currently I know a few Spanish vocabulary words and can speak like ten broken sentences vs. a skill that teaches you how to approach problems and can be used by many to seek a good job
