Back story.

The A&M College of Architecture houses the Department of Visualization, essentially graphic arts, computer graphics, and gaming. My son got his Bachelor of Science there in '12.

One of thier professors came from Electronic Arts where he was in charge of all the graphics in the John Madden football games. Fast forward to three years ago when he started the Live Lab within the Viz department to do game incubation. The University funds the lab, the students are paid to work there, and the games they develop (only educational so far) are then licensed to a new startup company called Triseum which that professor founded and opened their doors in Bryan this year. The company splits the profits with A&M as well as their investors and employees.

Most of the employees of Triseum are former students, including my son who was one of the first three people hired. He is one of their producers.

Yesterday they announced their second game. The first was an art history/economics game called Arte Mecinas. The latest is a calculus game called Variant.

Here is the trailer for the game. My son also produced the trailer as well as the game.

Even if my son wasn't part of this I would think it was a cool idea to use gaming to teach calculus.
