This is literally the only reason I believe something might actually happen, at least to the underlings involved. When was the last time a democrat was ever held accountable for abuse of federal office? Not talking about some rogue congressman on the outs with the democratic administration, but an actual congressional leader or administration big shot who flagrantly violated the law?

If it's anything, I would say it's the other way around -- the Trump Epstein letter is the deflect. If the letter was real, we would have heard about it at least 4-5 years ago. On the other hand, it's been known this Russia Gate stuff has been brewing and had Trump not won the last election, it could have continued to be ignored and brushed under the rug. The Dems threw the Epstein letter out there to try and deflect. Try again!

I am old enough to remember Watergate. The criminal prosecution of Richard Nixon was under active discussion before Ford issued the pardon. There was a backlash against Ford for issuing that pardon in fact.

Bill Clinton still had perjury issues hanging over his head once he was out of office, as well.

So yes, a former President can be arrested and tried. If a sitting President, impeachment and removal by the Senate, then once removed and a former President, criminal prosecution can proceed, legally.

Politically is an entirely different matter.
