You go to CHS?

Vivek and plenty of people here are painting with really broad brushes.

My kids go to a very competitive HS, where this year 53 kids tied for valedictorian - meaning they took every AP or advanced course offered in core classes and all had a 4.0. The average SAT for that group was north of 1400. More than half played varsity sports. They are headed to amazing colleges all over America.


While it may not be that way at every highschool, there are plenty of competitive schools all over Texas similarly pumping out amazingly talented and accomplished students. The myth that we need to import high end technical talent is being pushed by those who have other agendas.

Some want to grow their preferred ethnicity and culture in America. Some want cheaper engineering workforce via flooding supply. Others want lower end talent to fill out lower and middle ranks by importing lesser skilled, lower paid talents.

None of the people punching this are doing it from the purpose of improving America's economy.

Wages have gone to and Chad and Karen still would rather stay home than work. How else do you convince them to work when it's obvious they don't want to.

Jocks don't sit at home after school. I have never known any jock who did this. They all went on to be very successful. The people who stayed at home were those who did nothing in high school beyond school.

That generalizations are stupid? A lot of non-jocks who stayed home play video games in the 90's went on to become extremely successful engineers and software developers.

A lot of "nerds" in HS who did nothing but play video games also ended up being losers who work at restaurants or can't even hold a job down. Not all nerds are some super geniuses

My take....

I've always thought Vivek is nothing more than an opportunist. The way he made his money is suspect, and he's COMPLETELY flipped his opinions on just about everything, if it benefits him. When we were debating him vs. DeSantis as a candidate, I said then....I dont want someone who says they'll do XYZ, I want someone who has actually done XYZ.

But...Like Elon, while I dont agree with them on everything, they can be useful. I hope DOGE is a MASSIVE success. And if nothing else, Vivek is a master communicator. So I hope him and Elon slice the heck out of the budget and communicate to the public, why they did so.

I volunteered at a debate tournament when my son was on the debate team in high school. He was also a starter on the football team. The two populations could not have been more different. He was the single overlapping element of the two, at least at his 5A high school. Different kids have different talents and interests. And that is ok.

I think Elon's angle is to get rid of rightly-criticized "worthless' government workers and pump that money into low-wage slave imports, who are at least producing something.

The net benefit to the economy would be...something, but it's not what America First is all about...at all.

Funny, I know people with decades of experience in th tech sector who are highly skilled and motivated that are 1000+ applications in, some of them to companies importing people on H1b visas because they "can't find" workers.

I agree with in this aspect.

I think it's nuts especially now, we give scholarships and money to people that sometimes can't read but they play sports well. I've always felt athletes should get into a school based off the same academic requirements as everybody else. If a university wants to lower its standards to get the best athletes so that's their call.

He is right, you know.
He didn't mention race but if you look at the stats, the school districts where there are Indians and Chinese are the best ones with highest SAT scores. The ones where blacks and latinos are have the lowest. Whites are in the middle, some good some bad.

Some of you are butt-hurt because he is right and you have been bad parents.

Well said Sir. We need to grow up and face the harsh truths. Americans aren't dumb. We have just been dumbed down by the environment and brainwashed into thinking that foreign immigrants are smarter and more hard working.

Have no issue with his statement. CERTAIN foreigners are more hardworking. We're a lazy society compared to some that come here trying to obtain what the younger generation's parents have obtained. Younger generation needs to recognize and adjust.

I am a staunch believer in free markets. Hire the most hard working, competent person regardless of race, ethnicity, or country of origin. If you're not good enough, work harder. That's the one thing you can control is how hard you work.

If you don't want to work that hard, there are other careers. Evaluate and make a decision on what fits your level of input/output.

The Rs have misplayed this situation so bad. They should have highlighted the fraud of the program and then turned it around on the Dems and teacher unions etc for education being **** in America. Instead it turned into this

Worked for two Fortune 500's for over 30 years. The last 20 years or so we could not fill all of our tech-heavy roles without sponsoring talent from other countries on H1B visas. Preferred to hire US employees if at possible, but there wasn't enough to fill the roles. These were high paying jobs. It wasn't a matter of being cheap. Year after year after year. Don't blame companies for hiring foreigners if they can't get enough local talent. The bigger question is why aren't there enough qualified Americans to fill these high paying jobs?
