As a Born on the Island Puerto Rican, I thought the joke was dumb but it wasn't Trump saying it, it was some comedian so he can say whatever. Not every joke is going to land, or be as funny as it was in his head when he wrote it.

I was back in my hometown 18 months ago and everything was pretty normal.

I didn't know about this trash problem in Toa Baja.

I'm surprised Bad Bunny hasn't said anything publicly about the trash problem because he's from a neighboring town. So, maybe it's not that big a deal. I don't know.
It was a dumb, dumb move to put this guy on the speaking docket. You just don't make jokes about any ethnic groups if you're in a political campaign a week from election. I don't know how many will be offended, but it's more than zero.

That said, it wasn't Trump who said it. That would be a much bigger issue. In the grand scheme of things, this is a hiccup in an otherwise masterful campaign the last few weeks.

You especially don't have one of the world's most famous roast comics as your opener right after Lee Greenwood sings Proud to Be an American.

Of course! They just attended the Trump rally to get a first hand glimpse at Hitler before changing their votes to Harris!

Tony isn't a "roast comedian." I guess people only know him from the Tom Brady special on Netflix? Where they asked Tony to tell a joke and not be controversial and he said "ok sure" and then destroyed all the ridiculous celebrities?

Trump and Vance on Theo Von, Trump on JRE, Tony at the rally… this is intentional and smart and reaching a massive disenfranchised moderate voting block. It isn't for MAGA or rally attendees it is for social media clicks and millions of podcast fans who see a side being taken and can support.

You need to watch kill Tony. He's a roast comedian. Wrote jobs on every roast you've ever seen.

My bad missed the "just" in my opening salvo. He isn't just a "roast comedian." The Kill Tony show is currently the epicenter of stand up comedy. Calling him a roast comedian missed the mark on his reach and the importance of his appearance at the rally.

Hopefully all Puerto Ricans in the swing states have this attitude.

Just don't want to fumble away the presidency on the one yard line because of the Kill Tony guy of all things.

Kill Tony should stick to doing funny things like this in the video below instead of speaking at a political rally of a party that is trying to win more than 40 percent of Latinos nationwide for the first time in a long time.

Latinos making jokes about their own culture during a comedy show where the audience knows and expects those kind of jokes from that particular comedian is very different from a presidential candidate's rally platforming a white man making "jokes" about PR being a floating trash pile, Mexicans breeding too much, and Black people carving watermelons instead of pumpkins for Halloween. If you don't understand that, then at least recognize that everyone else does.

Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, and other PR celebs either shared the "floating garbage" clip (along with comments like "this is what they think of us" and "this is an act of disrespect") and/or shared Harris' proposed policies for PR, and endorsed Harris to their combined HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of instagram followers. JLo alone has 250M followers.

trump's campaign has already disavowed the PR joke. "This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign," Trump senior adviser Danielle Alvarez says. Florida Rs are in damage control mode. At least *they* know how many PRs live in an important electoral state (more than 1M).

As for whether this sways "undecided" voters - understand that an undecided voter, almost by definition, is someone who doesn't know enough about either candidate to make a choice. These are extremely politically disconnected people. They don't watch the news, read newspapers, or use social media for political info. Depending on their age, they might have been school children at the time trump's "grab em by the *****" tape leaked, they weren't paying attention to trump while they were in middle/high school. As hard as it is for you to believe, there are many such voters out there, who only learn about the political headlines that make the biggest splash and manages to breach their bubble. Or if their favorite singer posts about it on instagram. There's also plenty of voters who are "holding their nose" to vote for trump. The expression about the straw that breaks the camel's back exists for a reason. How many Black and Latino "nose holders" are going to feel motivated to cast their vote for a guy who lets some schlub "comedian" make jokes like this at their expense?

But sure, this was *not* an unforced error and in no way will this hurt republicans by one single vote. Also, 450K Puerto Ricans live in Pennsylvania. :-)

Same here.

We want to win.

Trump should go to his Truth/Twitter account and go after Tony Hinchcliffe.

No response to whatever Hinchcliffe says afterwards. Just completely disavow him, and blast it out on all channels of social media so everyone knows Hinchcliffe in no way represents the campaign.

Say that Tony doesn't represent Trump or the campaign at all and some stupid campaign aide booked him.

It's a big nothing being pushed by the DNC propaganda machine and the left. Hypocrites once again.

Lopez, who has become a very gross human in many ways, being a comedian that made jokes about Mexicans. There's no outrage. The other guy made jokes about Puerto Rico's trash problem, which is actually real.

So apparently certain comedians are OK to make jokes and others aren't. And of course, the media is running with this bull*****

You can't make this **** up.

Why do you insist on asking this ridiculous question? No one can know exactly how many votes this will cost trump, but it's the height of absurdism to deny that the only impact it *can* have is a negative one for trump and all other down ballot republicans in states with large Latino/PR populations. Even trump's campaign recognizes this, which is why they put out a statement last night attempting to distance trump from the "joke."

You should probably see my full post above, but…

So you're clutching pearls over one joke that was about an actual trash problem, but this doesn't bother you? Apparently some comedians can make jokes and others can't. And the one that was actually attacking people's character was from the left. The other guy was making a joke about an actual problem.
