The right people are squealing.

You honestly think that because a comedian made a joke, that people are to decide to switch their vote?

OMG, where was the outrage from this comment?

Trump is the only one, according to many, that is/can be:

-- disliked or hated
-- making campaign goofs
-- not making/made smart hiring decisions for his cabinet
-- capable of calling opponents names
-- referring to opponents' positions in harsh terms

And a whole host of other things, depending on who you talk to. I've known for decades that the left gets a pass in many people's minds about what conservatives get criticized for, but with Trump, that's gotten escalated to the power of infinity. It stopped being hypocrisy many years ago and became outright stupidity. Or at least, the one asserting it thought everyone else was stupid.

If we passed a constitutional amendment that required one to a) give a specific example of and b) not be hypocritical in ANY criticism offered on ANY issue (obviously, an impossible goal, but stay with me), we'd have ZERO political commentary.

Hopefully not but you have to understand that millions of Latinos are pulling the lever for Republicans for the first time in their lives because of fiscal policy/inflation/taxes/economy, crime, immigration/border security, and social issues.

These jokes are completely unnecessary and risky to have at a political rally because Republicans are trying to earn the trust of Latinos.

I have no problem doing this at a comedy festival or at a big stand up special because I am a free speech absolutist, but this should never happen at a political rally when Republicans are trying to win over Latinos.

I question that... he knows who he has speaking (a wild roasting comedian). Trump tried to bait with a flag burning 1 year jail sentence. There was some advanced strategy at play but we will never truly know, at least officially

It doesn't do anything to help the campaign and does create unneeded distractions from the closing message with a week to go. There should be a lot of momentum coming out of the rally and the Rogan podcast, but now media will focus on this nonstop for a day or two. At the end of the day, it isnt election changing, but also not what the Trump campaign would have wanted.

The pop culture impact of an edgy comedian coming out for Trump far exceeds any amount of voters offended by these jokes. Puerto Ricans aren't left wing losers waking up everyday looking to be offended....those people are already voting for KH.

If you can get the Kamala campaign to bite on a huge nothing burger instead of fighting you on anything that would really change votes that Kamala thinks she needs, is it a bad thing?

there are NO undecided at this point. they were either already voting Trump or Harris before this event, and they are going to vote either Trump or Harris after this.
Agreed. Undecided voters are either lying, or are people that shouldn't be voting in the first place.

it is an unneeded and unwanted distraction, and one the campaign manager (assuming there is one) should have planned for and addressed up front.

look, the left was already comparing this event to a Nazi rally from 8-0 years ago BEFORE the event occurred.

there was no need to give them additional crap to whinge about.

Disagree, have them off on some wild anti Puerto Rican story and let them think that means all Latinos will be outraged.

I doubt it was planned but it works in a beautiful way since the dems don't know that Puerto Ricans has zero translation to all of Latinos

Don't worry. The 20000 undecided Pennsylvanians who decide the election will forget about this by next week.

In fact Trump could claim that Puerto Rico should be deported entirely and nothing would happen.

It was a throw away warm up joke. The pull out one was hilarious. Tony is funny and has one of the most popular youtube shows "Kill Tony".

What the Dems are really mad about is losing an influential media block. Comedians and their various outlets (radio, podcasts, tv specials etc) have been extremely anti-woke and pro freedom of speech for years. That puts them in the Trump camp and they hate it.

All the pearl clutching is the same people calling everyone racist and nazis.

If you watched the clip of tampon Tim and AOC watching and live commenting on the rally he didn't get it and got mad and she said "well that is Tony Hinchcliffe a comedian, which is disappointing" and was upset but had to toe the party line comrade.

Tony sells out MSG for his stand up and youtube show. This was a big appearance for the non-olds and non-political junkies.

Just another campaign misstep. Are they going it on purpose now?

Media: "This has all the trappings of a historical Nazi rally! It's chilling!"

Campaign: "let's bring in that Kill Tony guy! He's edgy! He makes fun of all kinds of cultures! It'll be hilarious!"

Comedian: Tells the jokes you would expect.

Media: "See! We told you so!"

How can you NOT see this coming???

Almost all the Hispanic folks I've ever known have a great sense of humor and make a lot of jokes about Mexicans/puerto ricans etc. Hispanic comedians have often made their career (good or bad) trading such jokes on stage. Weird thing to melt down about.

People are more sick of cancel culture than Puerto Rican jokes. This will have no impact, slight positive for Trump if anything due to Dems overplaying it.

As a Born on the Island Puerto Rican, I thought the joke was dumb but it wasn't Trump saying it, it was some comedian so he can say whatever. Not every joke is going to land, or be as funny as it was in his head when he wrote it.

I was back in my hometown 18 months ago and everything was pretty normal.

I didn't know about this trash problem in Toa Baja.

I'm surprised Bad Bunny hasn't said anything publicly about the trash problem because he's from a neighboring town. So, maybe it's not that big a deal. I don't know.

This will result in faux outrage, yes.

It will not affect a single vote.

Period.

There has not been an undecided voters in weeks (I am being generous with that short of a period).
Naive to see that it won't affect 1 voter. Yes, there are absolutely few undecided voters but there are plenty of people who may or may not actually show up to the poll. Why give someone who dislikes Trump more of a reason to show up.

About 1% of the population posts on a political message board. Someone posting here isn't swayed by yesterday. But others are.

If Trump loses a state by a few thousand, this will have contributed to it.

How do you know this for sure? How do you know how many voters this will impact?

You sat it's not zero. Ok. How many?

Using that logic, if Harris loses a state by a few thousand votes, I suppose she can blame George Lopez for his remarks at her rally.

Tony doing stand up at a political rally is a wild move and risk for Tony not Trump.

His endorsement will bring more votes than it could possibly lose. Trump on JRE Friday and Tony doing his rally Sunday is a huge endorsement by people watched and listened to by millions every week.

This entire thread reads like that commercial with the old women not understanding how social media works.

It was a dumb, dumb move to put this guy on the speaking docket. You just don't make jokes about any ethnic groups if you're in a political campaign a week from election. I don't know how many will be offended, but it's more than zero.

That said, it wasn't Trump who said it. That would be a much bigger issue. In the grand scheme of things, this is a hiccup in an otherwise masterful campaign the last few weeks.
fightingfarmer09

I've thought about this a lot. If the left reacts hard on Tony, every comedian on a podcast for the next week will be blasting MSM and woke ideology. That will help.
