Through TSA's Secure Flight Program and by leveraging Custom and Border Protection's Automated Targeting System, TSA's intelligence professionals develop a set of risk-based, intelligence-driven scenario rules, which allow us to identify international travelers who may require enhanced screening. These rules have strict oversight by the Department of Homeland Security, including the privacy, civil rights and liberties, and general counsel offices.

TSA uses this program to reduce the risk on airplanes by identifying passengers deemed to be higher risk according to certain travel patterns and other intelligence-based factors. Contrary to some reporting, the program does not take into account race or religion, and does not designate individuals based on their observed behaviors onboard an aircraft. As trained law enforcement officers, Federal Air Marshals observe passengers in accordance with their training. When FAMs are informed that a traveler identified through the intelligence-driven scenario rules will be on a particular flight or in the airport, they are able to observe the traveler in the airport and on the flight. Passengers referred to the program may require additional scrutiny for a certain period of time; however, TSA routinely removes passengers from the program sooner than the prescribed period if we become aware of information that indicates the passengers do not represent a risk.

Something to keep in mind is that the Federal Air Marshal Service is the only federal law enforcement agency dedicated solely to protecting the nation's aviation system. Since President Kennedy initiated the concept of having armed air marshals, the goal has always been to protect travelers and ensure that the flight arrives to its destination safely.

Let's take a moment to recognize that air marshals have a difficult and important job: they must remain vigilant at all times, and operate at 30,000 feet in tight quarters. Air marshals receive specialized training in a variety of law enforcement techniques including blending in with other aviation travelers and identifying when something is out of the ordinary in the aviation environment. They are prepared to react to a wide spectrum of criminal and terrorist events and activities.

FAMs have and will continue to use a variety of tools and work with industry partners to detect, deter, and defeat any potential threat to the aircraft, crew and passengers. They play an important role in protecting travelers in mid-air and are essential to our national security.

When they say currently "enrolled" it makes it sound like she opted in for something. Does "enrolled" in this case mean "on our list for surveillance when she travels"? I'm assuming that's what it means but enrolled kind of threw me here.

A few thoughts on this.

It's been long known that the No Fly List is not intended to keep terrorists off of planes, but is a punitive tool for people who said or did the wrong thing but represent a security threat. They don't even put real terrorists on the No Fly List as that would let them know they are under surveillance.

So for real terrorists or people that are threats, they allow them to get on planes anyway and use Quiet Skies to monitor them.

Only now it seems Quiet Skies is just another punitive tool to hassle people who are innocent of any crime.

Tulsi was vice chair of the DNC for 3 years and resigned because Hillary cheated in the debate. Then Tulsi backed Bernie. Then next election Tulsi ran, and destroyed Hillary's proxy Kamala in the debate. Tulsi is way way up on HRC's list.

HRC is on a book tour right now. It doesn't look like she has anything to do with the dem palace intrigue. But just wait. she has more power than Obama. much deeper roots. had deep connections w the rinos.

Okay, I've been stepping on my conservative brothers toes lately by questioning some of the red meat posts, but could she be on there not because they fear her but fear someone trying to cause a problem because of her?

I'd put every controversial pol who flies a public airline on the list. Omar, Cruz, horse face, Gingrich, rand Paul, all those and more should have an air marshal on board for some nut job trying to mess with them.

It needs to be investigated and see if it's one sided. I actually know someone who is intimate with the air marshals, I'll ask him if I see him.

Reading the TSA's own words in the post by "torrid", above, that's not what the program is.

It's to monitor people who TSA thinks will cause problems, not people who might be attacked.

Sort of like "Red Flag" laws for guns
