The modern mainstream media truly are the best propagandists of all time. They've told everyone from the get-go how Trump was unstoppable and that DeSantis' campaign was a disaster and he had no charisma. They helped fuel the MAGA fire and had MAGA numpties focusing more hate on DeSantis than on biden.
Now they're at the tail end of their self-fulfilling prophecy and will celebrate when DeSantis drops out knowing that a lamp could beat Trump in the General.
DeSantis supporters mocking and name calling other republicans and independents for over a year certainly hasn't helped DeSantis and helped fuel the Maga fire too. Maga has turned into it us vs. the world attitude. With DeSantis supporters sounding like 2016 progressives, it's become a turn off.
Translation: I didn't like having my hypocrisy pointed out to me repeatedly.

You know very well that Only-Trump MAGA gives at least as good as it gets. If you love the crudeness of Trump, that's fine, but then to whine about it when it goes the other way...
Trump attacks other politicians and figure heads.
The Desantisites on this board, Biden, Obama, HRC, talking heads attack Trump supporters. They are dumb, rednecks, bible clinging, deplorable racists.

If you can't see the difference than that is on you.
I see. Trump supporters on this board have not done the same to Desantis voters?

Even if we assume that's true, which is absurd, you're excusing the person you're voting for (Trump), for doing exactly what annoys you about Desantis voters. That's called hypocrisy. If you can't see that, it's on you.

Trump rarely ever criticizes non-politicians or figure heads. Even when he called BLM "Thugs" he actually says Sleepy Joe would call them "thugs" and implied he agreed with it.

Feel free to give counter examples.

When has a Trump voter called you dumb? Implied that you are uncultured? Make fun of your earning potential and class?

Also, you failed to read what I said. Trump attacks other politicans and figure heads. DeSantis also does the same thing. Here on a message board DeSantisites attack Trump supporters then say oh its cute you can't take it but Trump says mean things all the time. HYPOCRITE. The point is Trump rarely ever insults a nobody or a group of persons in a class beneath him.

You can tell by diction that DeSantis attacks on Trump supporters are generally class attacks. Nascar/WWF fans. Rednecks. Dumb. Poor people. Etc.

It's a ridiculous argument. Supporters are going to say all kinds of things on the internet. If you choose to be offended by it you will always find a reason to be offended.

DeSantis remains my pick, but he will not win this time. His biggest mistake - and it's one that should give anyone supporting him some doubt - was listening to the DC consulting class. He should have embraced Trump - and simply offered himself as a more polished MAGA politician. Instead, the consultants convinced him to try and drive a wedge in the GOP. That was a mistake.

Trump is seen (quite reasonably) as a victim of the very conspiracy that Hillary complained up during the Lewinsky affair. Like so many Ds, she was projecting. Many Trump voters will select him because he is seen as a victim of establishment DC. For those who want DC dismantled, pulling the lever for Trump is easy.

Frankly, I believe Desantis has a better shot at dismantling DC than Trump. Trump had a chance to do it before - he underestimated his opponents.

Given that MAGA is the rabid cult of personality surrounding Trump and doesn't represent any real cogent policies that could be adopted, this is not possible. He's a Rorschach ink blot that people can project whatever they want onto him.

MAGA wants Trump, period.

And Trump practically invented the notion of driving a wedge in the GOP.

"Injustice" lol. Once again you were the one talking about how mean everyone has been to Trump supporters. People have been banned for personal attacks against me, I just laugh it off though because personal attacks just mean you can't make good merit arguments. People have talked about how I have TDS or need to seek help so many times here I have lost count.

So quit deflecting. You are the one who cried victim about how DeSantis supporters were attacking Trump supporters and calling them names (though I think you are confusing most of them with what Democrats have done said). You then said that Trump doesn't say bad things about DeSantis supporters which is questionable because that line is really, really tight when you talk about DeSantis and his beliefs in such nasty language and then assume it doesn't apply to his supporters.

We all say things that can offend here at different points, that's part of political discussion. Hey but if you want to think it's only DeSantis supporters being meanies and Trump supporters are noble and wonderful go ahead. I'll just keep chuckling.

The reality is you are trying to find a way to feel justified and above the fray.

Again your failure to follow the thread of the conversation comes through.

The discussion was based on how DeSantis supporters have constantly attacked MAGA which has failed to yield success in turning Trump voters into DeSantis voters. This line devolves into Trump attacks everybody. To which I made the point that Trump attacks elites not everybody while everybody attacks MAGA. This ruffled some feathers.

You know the reason he has to drop out. Because he is going to lose.

Oh I followed it. You are trying to equate DeSantis supporters with DeSantis and Trump supporters not being the same as Trump himself. Then you tried to act as though Trump supporters don't attack DeSantis supporters. It's just entertaining watching the pretzel logic.

If you are looking for supporters that say bad things about other supporters it won't take long no matter which side you are on. It's just comical to try and use that as a reason for why DeSantis struggled.

Plenty of legit reasons to criticize the DeSantis campaign or certainly to explain why Trump is going to win. This is just a pretty ridiculous one and yet you are leading with it because it allows you to try to feel ironically sanctimonious.

My feathers aren't ruffled a bit btw, I'm just finding your line of reasoning funny.

I didn't really care that Trump supporters attacked DeSantis ones. Trump supporters had the advantage of knowing they were going to win a few months ago. If you want to get someone to switch onto your team, it is stupid to attack them. The difference is in the national election Trump & DeSantis supporters will both be on the same team against Progressives. If DeSantis would have managed to win the Republican nomination, then the tables would be turned fairly. But that isn't happening.

K, story keeps evolving but sure.

Still when looking at why Trump supporters didn't want to leave Trump for DeSantis I'm not buying that some DeSantis supporters were meanies. They like Trump and they weren't going to change from Trump. Issues arguments and personal behavior didn't shift that. They like Trump. So it looks like he will be the nominee. I will vote for him but I think it was a huge mistake to nominate him over DeSantis if that ends up being the case but people like Trump for all kinds of reasons that I personally disagree with or think are flat out loony. That's politics though and I'm sure Trump supporters may feel the same about some DeSantis supporters.

BTW, since Trump is going to be the nominee you may want to think about trying to change your mind about Trump folks wanting to stop attacking DeSantis supporters. I mean if winning in November is part of the plan that is. I would recommend insulting them harder is a bad strategy because not everyone lets it roll off their back as easy as I do.

Ah, so all DeSantis supporters have to do is stop talking about DeSantis and ignoring all of Trump's flaws and we are all good. Got it.
You could talk about wishing Ronald Reagan would be president in 2024 as that is almost equally as likely. But hey continue in fantasy land if you want. But it would be nice if DeSantis wouldn't be dragged into every conversation.

Here is the more appropriate comparison:
Trump is the homily woman who has some character issues but would respect you and be open to a relationship with you. She might break your heart though. But together the two could create something that is good.
DeSantis is the girl in the porn you can google on your computer. A fantasy that allows you to imagine something that isn't presently possible for you but leaves you with a sinking feeling of more loneliness and despair.

DeSantis isn't winning the Republican nomination. So the question is are you going to continue to double-triple-quadruple down on this fantasy and face further despair or are you going to face reality.

Sidenote Biden is a transwoman. It's all bad.

Just curious rank in terms of liberalness:

Trump
McCain (remember he prevented Obamacare being repealed)
Romney (father of Obamacare essentially)
George W Bush (TSA, Patriot Act, bailouts)

So you lied. You said every election they get more liberal. But for the past 16 years they have been a tie. And close to the past 24 years. On another thread an easy argument can be made that Trump was way more conservative than McCain and Romney. But interesting base for you to argue from going forward.

LoL at thinking Trump was conservative.

Fiscally, Trump blows away the other 3 you posted as to liberalism. So much so even Obama was impressed by his liberal policy.

McCain and Romney didn't have a chance to outshine his fiscal liberal dumbassery, but their ties to DebacleCare bring them into his realm. Add in how progay/trans, anti-2a Trump was (Romney was anti-2a too) and his penchant for jobs programs.

Right now the hope is that Haley does poorly in NH and drops out and it may press Trump to make a VP decision. It's all longshot territory for sure but I don't think DeSantis is damaging himself by staying in and he is setting himself up to be the alternative if Trump is out for some reason (health being the biggest thing imo). He can always suspend if he wants, just no real rush.

There's a better chance of Haley beating Trump in NH than there is of Haley doing poorly…

Don't think she beats Trump, but it's going to be tight…

DeSantis has zero shot in either NH or SC…
Polls I've been watching show Haley fading. I think the key is if she can stay within 10. If not she is done. DeSantis has a lot of dedicated supporters but Haley relies on big donor money and the perception that she can compete with Trump. Maybe not though, we will see. I think if she loses by 10 or more she drops out fast before the bottom falls out in SC. If she stays closer than that she hangs around a bit. She has no real path to the nomination regardless so her entire point was to press to be VP or Sec of State.

Agree DeSantis can't win NH or SC but that's not what he needs to do. He's got a very, very narrow path or two but it's going to take some crazy happening. First he needs Haley to drop out and get this to a 2 person race. He also needs to get into double digits in NH and he's been creeping up there so it's possible. Then he needs to not get completely destroyed in SC and hopefully Haley is already out. Then he needs some bad break for Trump. To call it a longshot is generous.

I'm not sure of his true plan though. Certainly hanging around and seeing if Trump falters. He's still drawing crowds so he's not embarrassing himself. He could be trying to push Trump to the right. Could be trying to continue to build relationships. Maybe he is using it as leverage for something else prior to endorsing Trump. Don't know.

Anyway, barring a miracle this is all just theater. Trump certainly has all the advantages now.
