The tech and performance push them into luxury territory, similar to a BMW. I've had BMW's for years before my Tesla and the interiors were never much to write home about.
I've owned BMWs, Still have my '72 3.0cs, #1 son has an e30, #3 son has a '74 2002 and I owned an X5 (most unreliable, worse than my current '14 F-Type S V8, way worse). Pre '90s BMW are very serviceable.

I would never buy a new one unless I was Streten from M539 on YT. Yes, they drive and feel great on the road, but there too many plastic parts in the engine bay.

Was in Miami over the holidays. Teslas were everywhere. I don't see that changing. I was surprised that they are ubiquitous there. Tesla will be ok

I was about to reply with what other tech stocks are doing, but akm91 just beat me to it... But I'll add that Musk is not conservative... if anything he is a more traditional democrat which now does fall right of center by a good margin. He is battling wokeness and the woke agenda. Tesla will be fine as they offer a good product for their target market. But even Musk realizes that EV's are not the answer and that they are anything but green. It's simply a new and innovative way to fuel your vehicle in the process of becoming 100% nuclear as a global community (which will eventually happen). Fossil fuels will always be needed, the batteries (far less green than fossil fuels) will always be needed (unless we can run vehicles with nuclear reactors). Musk is simply pushing the boundary of what's possible with Tesla, Space X, and now Twitter... I'm not sure he cares if the business side of it is wildly successful, he does it for other reasons which makes him wildly successful.

Hybrids are way more convenient and make way more sense than EV's...especially if it's not about being Green. I can get gas in 5-minutes and still have extended range, low end torque, speed, on-board generator and fun driving experience with a hybrid.

Let's be honest. EV's produce a boat load of emissions just to make them, so nothing about them is "Net Zero". Biggest lie of all.

And what will eventually stall the growth of EV & maybe hybrids is the used vehicle market. Nobody wants to buy and EV or Hybrid with over 75,000 miles on it. Way too risky. I'd by a ICE V8 with 100,000 miles on it and get it to 200,000.

I currently own a hybrid and and ICE. I also know when I go to sell my hybrid at 120,000 miles is it won't hold much value. But I just wanted to buy a hybrid. I can tell you when I sell it I will be going back to ICE only vehicles.

This is the correct format minus the slush box. A couple extra cylinders with a TR-6060 would make it just about perfect. The generator powering electric motor style hybrids are boring.

Whatever one may think of Elon and his new conservative politics, it is an extremely questionable move to become a public spokesperson for right wing ideology while running an electric car and solar panel company. Liberals were probably 75% of his customers (at least) and he has completed lost them. I predict Tesla stock price will continue to plummet as Elon is clearly distracted and prioritizing Twitter.
Not a conservative he is sick and tired of media bias that clearly has affected reporting on politics which is not the case this day and age. He is not a staunch conservative just a defender of free speech.

Define green energy.

While you are at it, for the African children mining cobalt, define the concept of a 'job'.

Cobalt is being phased out of all Tesla batteries.

Take all those 5 minute trips you spend going to the gas station to fill up and remove them from your life. That's convenience. As for used EV's. Batteries, and especially the motors, last way longer than you think. This guy has been driving his Tesla for 1.7 million kilometers (1,056,000 miles) on the same motors and the battery he has in the vehicle has been running for at least 517,000km (321,248 miles). Engineering on the cars is getting better and better.

You are looking at what they look like now, not what they look like in 10 years when the majority of people will be buying one.

Model 3 and Y are definitely not luxury. The S and the X are somewhat luxury on the inside (not Mercedes top end) and full luxury when it comes to acceleration and handling.

Everyone I know that has a Tesla bought it for performance and/or they are tech geeks. Not one bought it to save the planet and they all say they love them.

Pretty much had to with the new tax credit caps. The Austin factory churns out Y's now that are made much cheaper to produce than they are in the Fremont factory.

I think they were offering $7500 incentives prior to January because they knew it was coming. We ordered ours last year before the big price hikes luckily. The real loser is Carvana who was paying out the nose for them and now have a massive inventory of Y's and 3's that they bought for more than they sell for new now.

The competition is coming. The Model Y Long Range is ~18,000 cheaper, after incentives, than the similarly specced Ford Mach-E and Tesla makes more per vehicle than Ford.

Let that sink in.

Tesla is going to continue to have a cost advantage vs. every competitor. Let that sink in. They're also going to start selling cheaper and cheaper models.

They know it, and so do the competitors.

The thing about this price drop is that it lowers some of the models down to the EV $7,500 subsidy the Biden administration was perniciously trying to deny Tesla.

I can't buy enough Tesla stock at these levels. I have 2000 shares and looking to buy my next 1000 after the 1/25 earnings call. I'll buy regardless of whether the stock goes up or down. In my opinion, it's one of those once in a lifetime opportunities like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Apple in the early days.

They are a tech company and should be valued as one. Each car is like an Apple IPhone and just when you think the competition is coming and growth is over they come out with AirPods. Tesla's equivalent about to explode is their energy storage business.

Just when you think they can't possibly grow earnings any more, their software services revenue stream starts exploding. Much like a phone you can purchase games and application downloads. Even auto improvements like acceleration boosts can be purchased and active within minutes. My son bought a model 3 and the first thing he did on the Tesla app was purchase a monthly subscription to Tesla auto insurance saving him tons of money.

Notice I haven't even mentioned FSD, Solar, Lithium refinement or the bot. Those will all be billion dollar businesses.

There may be one or two competitors much like Samsung is to Apple that will thrive, but there is going to be a tremendous number of bankruptcies and consolidation in the auto business over the next decade. Ford, GM, VW are in huge trouble. They are literally going to have to cannibalize their profitable ICE business to sell unprofitable EV's. The supply chain, energy management and software systems are completely different for an electric vehicle. Those legacy auto corps are anywhere from 50B to 170B in debt already and are going to need much more expensive debt to build completely new scalable factories. Tesla has zero debt while ramping 2 brand new massively efficient factories. Toyota and Honda are just now realizing they should probably start thinking about designing EV's let alone manufacture them. It's too late. Hyundai, Polestar and a few Chinese companies (BYD, NIO, XPENG) have a shot but still are not producing profits from their EV business like Tesla.

Just when you think you might have a shot to catch Tesla, they will deliver their new 4680 structural battery packs (which are also currently ramping at a million batteries per week) to all models and reduce costs by another 30 percent. Checkmate.

Most advanced manufacturing facilities on the planet just getting started.

The media and political bias against them is almost laughable. That's how you know they must be doing something right.
