No here is an example of a specific company(GM) that has been coddled by the government and is so far behind technologically from a software and manufacturing perspective from Tesla that they will be bankrupt within the next decade without being bailed out … Again.
Everyone thinks you can just gut an ICE car and plop a big battery in it and bingo you have an EV. Wrong. It's literally a completely different machine. The air conditioning, cabin heating, weight distribution, suspension, electrical and battery management systems, etc. all need to be completely redesigned for efficiency, maintainability and ultimately range and performance. Software and over the air updates are a must.
That's all step 1. Now you have to design a manufacturing facility for this new machine to be scalable and profitable. Tesla has a 10 year head start on everybody. GM, Ford, Toyota, VW don't even a have step 1 designed properly. Their manufacturing processes for EV's are not efficient and rely on way too many outside vendors for their supply chain. It's so bad and unscalable that there are literally no Auto companies making a profit on selling their EV's except Tesla which is making an unheard of 25-30 percent profit margin on auto's primarily due to their tremendous advantage in manufacturing and software. The margins for most ICE cars is only between 10-15%. Tesla has so much more pricing power if they ever have to use it during a bad economy.
Sandy Monro's team of engineers tore apart a Ford Mach E and found over 140 feet of hoses just to cool and manage the batteries along with many other obviously slapped together inefficiencies. God only knows how long those batteries are even going to last or have massive degradation to their range over time. He tore apart a Tesla Model Y and discovered less than 12 feet of anything remotely resembling a hose. He is still taking about all of the special advancements they found from heat releasing valve design to structural integrity and reduction of parts not to mention the amazing design of the Tesla motor itself.
There's all of these commercials talking about the competition is here and showing some flashy EV going down the road that doesn't even exist yet or is so expensive they are basically untouchable.
How anyone can trust buying an EV other than a Tesla is beyond me. There is a proven 1 million mile Tesla model 3 on the road still going with a 250 mile full charge range.
In the state of California and many other countries the Tesla model 3 and Y's are the best selling vehicles of any kind, not just EV's. But you wouldn't know it from the liberal media. Tesla produced 1 million vehicles last year, will produce roughly 1.5 mil vehicles this year and are primed to produce over 2 million vehicles next year. No other EV maker is even close. They are a sleeping juggernaut that is right before our eyes and most can't or don't want to see it. Note that I only mentioned Tesla's automotive division.
