I don't. I'm a Methodist. There are many Christian Jews.

No. It is impossible to have an honest discussion with you.Salute The Marines said:

Now, let's get back on topic. This congressmen had to apologize and rightly so. Fortunately those in conservative media also know better and never make these comparisons.

So what is an ethnic Jew?
A Jew that is Jewish by blood but is not religious. Many American Jews like myself fall in this group.

As I've said many times, few things are more eye rolling than comparing anything to the Holocaust and Nazis. It's simply lazy and lacks effort at real arguments.Quote:
JTA An Ohio Republican congressman apologized on Thursday for likening vaccine mandates to Nazi-era measures after a conversation with the state's Jewish umbrella body.
And as an ethnic Jew myself, it's good to see him denounced with compassion instead of calls for cancellation and retribution. However, it's exactly right that Godwins cheapen the tragedy of the Holocaust.Quote:
"We spoke about how comparisons to Nazis, Nazism, Nazi Germany and the Holocaust degrade public discourse and cheapen the memory of the survivors, the victims, the liberators, and others who resisted," Beigerlman told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in an email. "We agreed that passionate but civil debate about public policy can happen. Also, we did invite him to visit the Cincinnati Holocaust and Humanity Center, which is hopefully now in planning."
Far more eloquent than I was.annie88 said:
It's not lazy or cringe worthy and yes I know what Auschwitz said but they are wrong too. They absolutely should know better.
Everyone jumps to the final solution. They forget the previous six years and even decade before the war where the Nazis gradually stripped away peoples rights. And yes they had health passports for Jews.
Many holocaust survivors were asked why they didn't fight back when all these restrictions started taking place under the Nazis. They said they were small things at first, so they didn't push back and then they got bigger and bigger and by then it was too late.
No one is saying that people are going to end up in death camps. But we have already seen places like Australia putting people with a cough and cold in a camp. And yet people like you sit here and wring your hands and act like you're offended when deep down you even know this is a correct analogy. Spare me your fake outrage.
Better yet read a history book. It is amazing that people that have even heard of the death camps have no idea what led up to it. All the way back to the Beer Hall Putsch.
It is absolutely an appropriate analogy and the fact that the Democrats are freaking out about it so much tells you how right it is.

What's eye-rolling -- no, make that idiotic -- is the thinking that the Nazis STARTED with the death camps, and then equating the word, Nazi, to the death camps. The Nazi party started around the end of WWI and Hitler took power in 1933. While neither event was the Holocaust specifically, the Holocaust likely doesn't take place without either event, not to mention many others. The idea that you can't compare certain things to what Nazi Germany was doing in the 1930s is repugnant. You want to argue the historical meaning or comparison of the two, fine; do it. But when you try to bully people -- as you are here -- into never comparing anything to Nazi Germany simply because the end result of the Holocaust was so bad, that is simply logically and historically inaccurate. And stupid.
Authoritarian dictatorships don't start the process by putting a group of people into extermination camps.

This is completely false and borders on antisemitism FYI.
a large part of any ethnicity for any group is shared cultural and self-identified components that distinguish them from other groups.
They are not always or even have to be innate, universal or inherent.
and that does apply to many people who consider themselves Jewish
False. Someone is a Jew through matrilineal birth. That's it. The end. You don't get to tell Jews how they determine who is who.

And yet you love to claim you don't support the mandates, but you sure love to defend them.
That said, when the mandates are used to exclude people from society, whether it is work, ability to engage in commerce, or even exist outside of their homes, then it is EXACTLY like what the Nazis did to the Jews.

Then why brag about being Jewish? Every Jew I know does this but are hardcore atheist progressives/socialists.
Probably the one next door to the church the "I'm not taking the vaccine for religious reasons" people attend.FratboyLegend said:

Who's to say that's not the next step? Just because it isn't mentioned doesn't mean it won't happen. Just because you don't believe it could happen doesn't mean your guess is any more accurate. There has been plenty of talk from the left of "re-education" camps and plenty of leftist voters who support the idea of hauling off conservatives and the unvaxxed to these camps. History has taught us two enormous truths, one is that even the unfathomable can become a reality; and, the second is that it will repeat itself.Jason C. said:Rapier108 said:

Exactly. "Sorry, sir, which people go into which railcars again?"
