Some of her videos and interviews have been popping up on my Facebook feed lately, and wow! I am impressed.

The economic and political arguments she was having 40 years ago in the UK are almost identical to wha we are facing in the US today (socialism, immigration, more freedom for individual, ect…)

I do consider myself a student of US history and politics, but not so much when it comes to other countries.

Why is she not more celebrated in England or by feminists? What am I missing?

Can the older folks on this board who were around when Thatcher was in power share how she was perceived by the media at the time?

I've always hoped that she and Reagan would have had a "love child". Would have been one bad assed leader.

She was conservative. Feminists don't celebrate successful women, they celebrate liberal women. It's in no way about women. They're identical to orgs like NAACP.
A fearful society is a compliant society. That's why Democrats and criminals prefer their victims to be unarmed. Gun Control is not about guns, it's about control.

White liberals would rather celebrate outright infanticide than any non-liberal female's accomplishments. Liberals are evil, that's the simple answer to your question. We need to quit overthinking things and giving them too much credit.

Because liberals and feminists don't care about women, the middle class, or economic success. Only power and being given what others have worked hard for without lifting a finger. Your education has misinformed you that feminism is anything but massive, hypocritical, idiotic, far left nonsense.

One of her best exchanges.

Liberals would rather have the poor poorer provided the rich were less rich.

Similar to the reason Sandra Day O'Connor is not celebrated while Ruth Bader-Ginsburg is.

My recollection regarding Thatcher was that she was treated by media much as Reagan was.

We were very fortunate to have the trifecta of world leaders in Reagan, Thatcher, and Pope John Paul II during that time. I believe that group of world leaders are a key reason why the Russian Bloc failed when it did.

Divine intervention

So who will become UK PM and who will be the next great uniting and humanitarian Pope to govern side by side with Desantis?

You raise a good point about the Pope.
I think the current Pope definitely doesn't help the situation.

My parents were English and we went back and visited relatives every year during the Thatcher years.

One of the things most American's forget is that the British economy prior to the Thatcher years was awful. By a number of measures things improved during her time, but there was not a complete recovery. Far from it.

For instance inflation was 15% when she entered office, and although it dropped as low as 3% for a while, it was 10% when she left.

Unemployment also increased while she was in office.

Her attempts at fighting the unions by closing coal mines also generated a lot of hate in coal producing areas of the country.

It was a tough time to be a politician in the UK with the circumstances as they were and very few survived with great reputations.

"Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren't."

Leave it to Hollyweirdo Streep to distort her memory
Quote:

According to a friend of the family who spoke to UK newspaper the Daily Telegraph, "Sir Mark and Carol are appalled at what they have learnt about the film," says the friend." They think it sounds like some Left-wing fantasy. They feel strongly about it, but will not speak publicly for fear of giving it more publicity." The friend was speaking of Thatcher's two children, Carol Thatcher and Mark Thatcher.

I think one or possibly two of her grandchildren attended A&M. Her son lived in Highland Park for a while and had two kids, a son and daughter, one or both of whom attended A&M.

At least that's what I remember.

Her son may also have gotten into legal trouble as an international arms dealer. You know, those crazy kids.

Absolutely the archetype of a woman I would vote for as President of the U.S.

No female I can think of has come close within the American political landscape.

Had the great pleasure of hearing her speak in-person when I was in grad school.

We don't have great communicators like Reagan and Thatcher anymore, and that's a problem. It's going to take someone like that to convince the populace the conservative principles are best for everyone.

Yep, this is exactly what I remember. Grandchildren, about 10 years ago give or take.

My granddad was a northerner and worked in an iron foundry. He still liked her because he remembered what it was like having a weak military leader.

Falklands war is weird though but it's always handy to control the trade passages.
