I was living in OKC when Kanter played for the Thunder. He was immensly popular in OKC, both as a player and for his courage in speaking out against Ergodan. After he was traded to Boston, he returned to OKC for a game and got a standing ovation from the Thunder fans.

On a side note, I lived in Turkey when I was in the 7th and 8th grade (59-61). My AF dad was stationed at Incirlik AB, near Adana. For the first year we were there we lived in Adana (my dad had to move on base the 2nd year) and my parents had a lot of Turkish friends. And so did my younger brother and I. My family loved our two years in Turkey. One reason I am a huge fan of Enes Kanter.

It is too bad that the Celtics appear to be 'punishing' him for his views (via playing time).
