It's sad that you don't see the value of history. I've never understood the appeal behind trying to demean and put down other people who are trying to further our understanding in various fields, not just the people I know but history in general. Minimum wage was started as the necessity for a nuclear family of four in a house with two cars. Nothing of that magnitude is necessary or practical at this stage.

Housing has been tried, its called the projects. I'm skeptical of legit ways to solving that issue. Even as a staunch conservative I think there should be safety nets for some % of the population.
But the "safety nets" are now approaching helping 50% of the population. That isn't a safety net. That is an inefficient and corrupt wealth redistribution scheme.
And by safety net, you mean temporary? I'm OK with temporary safety nets.
But perpetual welfare should not be a thing. If you are on welfare, you should be forced to work. If you have kids in school, then you work during school hours picking up litter, cleaning schools, cleaning city offices, whatever. If made to work hard enough, many would opt to get a job in the private sector.
