I wish they'd add a clown emoji on here. I've officially seen it all.

Quote:

Biden Deserves Credit, Not Blame, for Afghanistan

Americans should feel proud of what the U.S. government and military have accomplished in these past two weeks.

About the author: David Rothkopf is an author, a commentator, a former senior government official, and the host of the Deep State Radio podcast.

America's longest war has been by any measure a costly failure, and the errors in managing the conflict deserve scrutiny in the years to come. But Joe Biden doesn't "own" the mayhem on the ground right now. What we're seeing is the culmination of 20 years of bad decisions by U.S. political and military leaders.

If anything, Americans should feel proud of what the U.S. government and military have accomplished in these past two weeks. President Biden deserves credit, not blame.

Unlike his three immediate predecessors in the Oval Office, all of whom also came to see the futility of the Afghan operation, Biden alone had the political courage to fully end America's involvement. Although Donald Trump made a plan to end the war, he set a departure date that fell after the end of his first term and created conditions that made the situation Biden inherited more precarious.

And despite significant pressure and obstacles, Biden has overseen a military and government that have managed, since the announcement of America's withdrawal, one of the most extraordinary logistical feats in their recent history. By the time the last American plane lifts off from Hamid Karzai International Airport on August 31, the total number of Americans and Afghan allies extricated from the country may exceed 120,000.

The author went out with a bang:

Quote:

The very last chapter of America's benighted stay in Afghanistan should be seen as one of accomplishment on the part of the military and its civilian leadership. Once again the courage and unique capabilities of the U.S. armed services have been made clear.

And, in a stark change from recent years, an American leader has done the hard thing, the right thing: set aside politics and put both America's interests and values first.

I've seen a few articles/op ed's now like this. There was one last week in the NYT I believe. And the morons who pen these are either blind or willfully distorting the fact that most wanted out of Afghanistan but the end result didn't have to be the disaster it became: that is why Biden is catching hell and well he should.

IT'S THE WAY THE BIDEN ADMIN WENT ABOUT IT. IT WAS THEIR "PLAN" THAT WAS A DISASTER.

much respect for Babylonbee, still able to have on point satirical articles in the face unintended competition.

The legacy media has stepped out of being ridiculously wrong to dangerously lying.
The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, npublic debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome become bankrupt.
People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.

From the article:
A letter from one of the coordinating operators trying to get these people out...

Fellow Americans we need a significant movement to take place to save the poor Afghan people and stranded American citizens.
There are several groups of retired special operations guys and other veterans who have gathered significant private funding and moved lots of assets to begin rescuing people from Afghanistan since our Government refuses to do their job. These groups have sent private planes into Kabul and been told they could not.
They have shuttled busses of American citizens to the Kabul airport and have been told to leave and that the were not allowed to fly out.
Some of these other groups have been granted access to fly into neighboring countries to launch tactical flights to recover personnel just to have the @StateDept come behind them and shut the door.
The U.S. Government has given rosters with the names of all our Afghan partners and American citizens to the Taliban, saying "we did it so the Taliban would allow them in." We all know that's not the real reason, and who would be that stupid anyway!
The stats they are pushing on the news are false. There are many more American citizens who want to escape but have no option because our own government keeps halting all actions.
We who are trying to save these people have run into roadblock after roadblock.
Everyone can understand that this is an embarrassment to the current administration but that's no reason to stop these valiant acts of selfless service.
If you believe in the sanctity of human life then you need to make your voice heard as loud as possible.
This is the worst disaster in American history and being magnified by this pure evil attempt to stop the actions of those who truly care. This must stop!
The only way to put and end to this is if everyone will band together and make your voice heard in person and through every platform available. Go to your State Capitols! Call every politician you know!
Let them know this entire @JoeBiden admin needs to be removed from the top down, including @SecDef, @thejointstaff, @SecBlinken and everyone else involved in this despicable coverup that will cost the lives of many Americans, and our loyal Afghan partners! -Ret. Special Ops" #

Yep, someone on my FB posted something today about how amazing and successful our airlift operations are. They are completely ignoring that this did not have to happen or that people have died because of how it was handled. He was quick to insult anyone that expressed that this was a huge mess.

The guy that posted that idiocy is very liberal and very condescending because he believes that he is a very smart and thoughtful person that could never ever be wrong or that the party he supports would ever screw anything up.

Personally I doubt that he has ever even changed a tire nor would he know how.

Half the media telling us Biden is a brilliant statesman who deserves credit, not blame for his masterful handling of Afghanistan

The other half says Afghanistan is a complete and total humanitarian and diplomatic disaster of epic proportions and it's 100% Trumps fault

Amazing isnt it?

This is like a global version of the first Dirty Harry movie. Liberals run the show and treat true evil with complete dignity and respect. Meanwhile the good guys are seen as garbage and out of touch with modern society.

We live with a reject from 70s-era liberalism who, having purposefully gutted support for the Afghan military in favor of his new Taliban allies, has now destroyed American credibility and created a terrorist safe space in the bargain.

Several groups, from the military to religious organizations to former special operators, have spent the last few weeks trying to do this President's job for him.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the good guys walk away, just like Dirty Harry did in the movie.

The America-hating left deserve nothing less than to be left with the consequences of their incompetence, weakness, and senility.

""If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

Joseph Goebbels.

A terrible evil man, who knew how to lie. The left has taken his words to heart.

FYI Goebbels may have not said this word for word, but he based his entire "big lie" strategies on it.

Flipped by the Dan Abrams show on POTUS on XM radio yesterday. A caller was asking Abrams how this (getting out of Afghanistan) wasn't an unmitigated success? What could they have done to make it more of a success? So those people really do exist. It's mind bottling.

To Abrams credit, he did say getting civilians and Afghan allies out earlier and not creating a situation that put American soldiers at risk would have made it a success. He tries to play the impartial journalist, but he's clearly a lefty; and even he thinks Biden screwed the pooch.
