**This is a long post about a kid's TV show that I think is the best thing in children's television right now, if finding great entertainment options for your kids is not important to you, you can skip over.**

I coudn't decide whether this was appropriate for entertainment or politics, but I think it's a bigger concern here so I'm posting here.

So I have a toddler and I've become increasingly concerned with the politicization of children's television. See below:

I feel like Disney Junior has done the best job of avoiding this, but this is especially true in the show "Bluey," here is my dissertation and pitch:

Bluey is actually a show from Australia featuring a world that is pretty much exactly like ours except the "people" are anthropomorphic dogs. Bluey is the oldest of two daughters, 6 and 4. She and her sister in the 7 minute episodes are usually playing some sort of imaginary game, but the world is never imaginary, they use items throughout their house, so when they play games like "Hospital" or "Hotel" they are using things around the house. Their parents often join in the fantastic enthusiasm and imagination. My kid has picked on the games as well and plays them in the house pretty often.

The thing that is also unique about this show is that there is often great humor for parents of toddlers. This is essentially a family living int he suburbs dealing with every day life and the topical humor for parents is all over the place. This is especially featured in an episode called "Sticky Gecko" where the mom is trying to get the kids to the park on time for a play date and they just simply can't get out the door. Lots of parent humor.

However, it also emphasis normal, healthy parent-child relationships. Instead of encouraging the child to pick their own gender or other agency over their lives they are not ready for, it demonstrates simple ideas of parenting, like a scene from the episode "Grandad" that has a scene in the begging that goes like this:

"Mom: Bluey eat your pumpkin seeds so you can grow up big and strong."

"Bluey: Aw, but I don't want to grow up big and strong."

"Mom: Too bad."

"Bluey: But shouldn't it be up to me?"

"Mom: If it were up to you, would you eat the pumpkins seeds?"

"Bluey: No."

"Mom: Then no, it shouldn't be up to you."

The point being this is a fun show with short episodes that present often a good life lesson and is enjoyable for parents, especially parents of small children.

Here is clip from an episode called the "The Creek"

Anyway, flame away if you want from a post about a kid's show, but this is a great example how sanity can be brought back into the entertainment realm and I strongly encourage parents of small children to bring this into your rotation if it is not already. We have to show this type of entertainment is what is appropriate and in demand. Episodes are available on Disney Plus or Disney Junior app if you have Disney Junior on your cable subscription.

Thanks!

Bluey is the ***** Really funny for parents too.

But Bandit (the dad) will make you feel like a bad father. No idea how he has that much energy to play along all the time.

The 'takeaway' episode is probably the most true thing to ever be televised.

Bluey may be the best television show on Television right now. Kids show or otherwise.

Takeaway is the best depiction of raising kids I've ever seen.

The backyard BBQ episode is great, too. "It started as a wee, but turned into a poo" has been said around our house more than once.

Think the adults in this house like it better than the kids

This is a good example of the difference between Bluey and other (very good) shows:

Veggie Tales is a show about talking vegetables on various adventures and it has great stories and humor as well, but it in a different way.

Bluey (while the main characters are talking dogs) everything else is very realistic and when they play games or do something imaginary they play like all of our kids play, by making forts out of pillows or using cardboard to create various scenarios.

I think both shows are great, just in different ways. But in terms of new entertainment, Bluey is head and shoulders above everything else out there.

Bluey is a great show for little ones. I probably am even more biased as I love Australian Cattle Dogs.

Puffin Rock on Netflix is another good one to check out as well.

We've enjoyed bluey in our house as well.

My wife is hyper vigilant for woke bs on cartoons and also commercials.

Bluey has passed the smell test longer than all other cartoons.

However in our current hyper woke climate I'm sure this will change. I'm not holding my breath.

My sincere hope is that since this show is made in Australia by Australians they are not influenced by the woke politics currently in vogue in the United States. I'm glad they have not changed, revamped, or dubbed the show for American audiences.

Daughter and nephews like bluey. Daughter learned mountain climber from it and other things. Also shows me fun games to play with the kids.

This manufactured racism crap needs to blow over.

Daughter also loves bubble guppies and umizoomi.

Thank you for this.

I'd ask you and others that have similar belief systems to post other kid friendly shows that steer clear of political topics (unless of the conservative variety).

It is increasingly difficult to screen shows ahead of time.

I'd be thrilled if this could be a running thread as more shows are identified by others.

The episode "Movies" could almost be a shot for shot remake of a day with my 5 y/o and 2 y/o.

Whoever is writing this show has life with small kids nailed.

Indeed!

Bluey's parents also put all of us to shame. We should be more like them!

Awesome show. The episode where Bingo is sick/at the hospital will really get you.

Easily the best cartoon show on tv right now. You can't find a lot of merchandise in the US right now but we did get a little stuffed animal of bluey and bingo and our kid takes them everywhere. It's funny when another parent spots it and says "oh I love that show" and it's adults talking about it like the bachelor except that sucks and this doesn't.

Bluey is a household favorite here. If we are watching TV with our son, that is what is on.
