History was made today. This is the first big step on the federal level to fix the unjust policies passed during the Nixon administration in the early 70's. I know the senate won't vote on it, but it's still progress.

Weed was more popular than both trump or Biden this fall. Legal weed won every single ballot initiative. Even the ones in deep red states.

To get it through the senate, Mitch will require cocaine be added. It's just part of the bargaining process.

I disagree with you on virtually everything, aside from pot legalization (or at the very least medical/decriminalization). We should not be coming down hard on people over f'n weed. Crazy that Oklahoma is ahead of us in this area.

Glad we as a country are focused on weed legalization instead of you know....election fraud

You and your ilk certainly have your priorities in order.

Why is this good news?

Does our society really need another legal drug?

Smoke all you want, but our country has much deeper issues than this.
In 70 years the Socialist have won without firing a single shot. This is their Cold War. A lukewarm congrats to the victors.

Our only hope is a Civil War, a very unlikely scenario OR secession of at least 10 states in the South and Midwest, again unlikely OR another Trump-like Presidential candidate that cuts through the political correctness, the social bullsh6t, to expose the corruption, the media(social) bias, the Dem lies and deceit. I fear it may be too late - I truly think it is.

Well, how can you smoke all you want if you can still go to jail in states for it?

All we need is another legal social intoxicant to fix our nation. Its been scientifically proven that people under the influence of weed are beneficial to society.

Because criminalization of marijuana is terrible policy and a huge waste of resources.

Sure we have deeper issues but that doesn't mean this should be ignored.

this shoulda happened decades ago honestly.

People smoke it illegally all the time. Take your chances.

It's good because we don't need police arresting people for something harmless.

The drug is proven to have medicinal properties. It helps people with seizures and cancer, but the federal government still views marijuana as dangerous as heroin. That's not right no matter which way you look at it.

Each arrest for marijuana takes a policeman off the street for an average of 3 hours. I'd rather have that cop be available to go after some guy who is beating his wife or his kids or something more serious.

Weed should be treated like cigarettes and beer. You should be able to buy it at your local cvs or Walgreens without issue.

If they had legalized it before the November election, Dem turnout would have been considerably lower.

One has actually taken away the rights of people. The other is a fiction.

Do any republicans feel that strongly about this? Shouldn't the republicans should just pass this so it can't be used as a tool to drive pro-legalization turnout, which probably is more favorable toward democrats? It may have won Biden Arizona.

Boomers when a state puts up a decriminalization bill:

Why can't they get it passed legally the right way?

Boomers when they attempt to do that:

Is this what we really need to be focused on?

Mine is mixed. I know some worthless stoners NOW. I also know people that use it medicinally.

More stoners will definitely help President Harris "Build Back Better" while smoking up and listening to Tupac.

Luckily, unemployment is already ridiculously high.

Boomers who say " we need to do more research on this"

Boomers then vote against bills to conduct research on marijuana.

I generally haven't cared about this issue that much either way.

That was until I made my recent trip to Vegas. The stench of pot as soon as you walked outside was ridiculous. Really even inside you couldn't get away from it even though they supposedly prohibited smoking it inside the casino's.

But as soon as you walked outside it just about made you vomit. And having to walk around the human debris of all of these homeless people who just sat there smoking pot all day and ****ting on themselves made for a very nice vacation.

It's just like alcohol. Some will abuse it, some won't. Right now, with it being illegal, the people that are most likely to use are the ones who will abuse.

The difference being that alcohol causes way more physical abuse and torment to family members than weed.

I don't know why anyone would support incarcerating people for it. It's a giant waste of tax dollars, and it leads to people dependent on the government forever, as our recidivism rate in this country shows.

Then don't try any four and five star hotels any time soon. I travel a lot for work and every hotel I stay in is smelly as hell with pot smoke. Now. When it's already illegal.
