Supposedly it might allow Pence to contest the vote or something? Then pushing it to the House and Senate to vote?
That's not really how it works.

People that keep saying once a valid objection has been raised (i.e. submitted in writing by both a member of the House and a member of the Senate) VP can reject disputed electors, resulting in a contested election that gets pushed to the House to vote on a 1 Vote per state basis are just plain wrong.

Here's what actually occurs on 1/6, straight from the Congressional Research Service:

Quote:

The Senate and House of Representatives assemble at 1:00 p.m. in a joint session at the Capitol, in the House chamber, to count the electoral votes and declare the results(3 U.S.C. 15). The Vice President presides as President of the Senate. The Vice President opens the certificates and presents them to four tellers, two from each chamber. The tellers read and make a list of the returns. When the votes have been ascertained and counted, the tellers transmit them to the Vice President. If one of the tickets has received a majority of 270 or more electoral votes, the Vice President announces the results, which "shall be deemed a sufficient declaration of the persons, if any, elected President and Vice President."

While the tellers announce the results, Members may object to the returns from any individual state as they are announced. Objections to individual state returns must be made in writing by at least one Member each of the Senate and House of Representatives. If an objection meets these requirements, the joint session recesses and the two houses separate and debate the question in their respective chambers for a maximum of two hours. The two houses then vote separately to accept or reject the objection. They then reassemble in joint session, and announce the results of their respective votes. An objection to a state's electoral vote must be approved by both houses in order for any contested votes to be excluded.

Once they separate to deliberate an objection, how do they vote in the house? Individually as members? Or as 1 vote per state delegation?

Individually as members. You would need a majority of both Senate and House to vote to accept an objection. Not going to happen. I have strong doubts you'd even reach a majority in Senate (Romney, Collins, Murkowski...etc.). Senate leadership not even on board.

It sounds like the requirement for an objection to be approved is specific to an objection made by the house/senate. It doesn't necessarily preclude the VP himself from objecting.

Yeah, that was my thinking. If they have to get house approval of any objection, they are dead. Next logical step for me is if they have legit proof of illegal acts for voter fraud, appoint a special counsel to investigate them so that Biden's presidency is crippled from the beginning. Let Biden spend the next 3.5 years fighting off an investigation he can't control. And I would start at the bottom and work my way up. Bring in all those Fulton County and Detroit poll workers and question them under oath and see who cracks. Start throwing them in jail for perjury and see who decides the truth is safer.

If anyone's actually keeping track, as of 5pm, electors in all states except Hawaii have recorded their votes. No faithless electors. Current count is 302-236, pending HI's 4 votes.

If he gets in, Biden is going to fire any special counsels, FBI or DOJ investigators, etc, on day 1 and get zero pushback from the Dems, RINOs, or media. It'll basically be up to us at that point. FYI.

Joe Biden got 52K viewers for his big speech tonight. Trump could hold a press conference tomorrow in the White House and draw 10x that many, and all he'd have to do is call Bill Barr a great guy who did a great job.

80M votes. Yeah ****ing right.

Is it? all the pols in the country cant figure out how to "make this right?"

They also couldnt deal with the common flu so well, either. These people aren't supposed to be our "leaders", they are supposed to be our "representatives". The only thing they represent, on both sides, is lying to us to enrich themselves.

Meanwhile, over at Legal Insurrection, William Jacobson offers his thoughts on "Where we are right now."

In a nutshell, getting congress to accept the Trump electors is a nonstarter. The war over this election started earlier this year when the well-organized democrats hatched their maniacal plan to cheat. It involved not just getting the mail-in ballots approved, but also strategically stacking the courts with liberals, such as how the WI court was today when the Trump team tried to get the election overturned unsuccessfully.

Quote:

So the nomination of alternative electors, and the vow to contest the electors on January 6, is a dead end. It's a dead end that could have serious consequences if it causes Democrats to win both Senate runoff elections in Georgia on January 5. That would put the Senate (along with the House) in Democrat hands with a Democrat president, and a power-hungry Obama-third term (at best) crew in charge.

It also distracts from a necessary organization of a resistence to the radical Democrat agenda, a resistence that needs to be organized now. The merging of the Democratic Party and the high tech oligarchs who control the flow of information is one of the most serious threats non-liberals have faced politically. They will hit the ground running. Will we?

]Previously I have likened the current situation to the time period after Obama's election, when the Obama juggernaut seemed unstoppable. The rise of the Tea Party movement in opposition changed the course of history. It didn't stop the Obama agenda in its entirety, and was undermined by establishment Republicans, but it did change the trajectory dramatically. It can happen again, but only if people don't engage in futile and useless gestures in the next few weeks instead of organizing.

So that's were I see things at this hour. Now I'm going back to get some rest.

From the same twitter account saw this.

I did not know that. Confusing that the ballot would have an "audit mark" but the forensics team found no adjudication logs. If such a mark was made, wouldn't there be electronic evidence of that? Meaning the absence of such logs in the Antrim machines was caused by human manipulation. Spoiliation comes into play.

It's nice to get back to where every time a POTUS opens his mouth it's not must see TV. I can read about a speech or Q&A the next day without wondering what outrageous thing is going to be uttered with a jaundiced eye cast toward the TV ratings.

You'll have his tweets, so it's not like we'll be without President Trump's thoughts on everything everyday.
We'll all still be happy with the content to riff on.

What would there be to see. They designed these machines to rig foreign elections. We know they do this.
What trail is left afterwards? I'm thinking none.

Watching the last 4 years I have no respect or confidence in any authority/agency that is supposed to protect our country. Most Republicans make that list too!

The tweet above (by Ron) says "Every adjudicated ballot has an "auditmark" stamped on it which shows exactly which votes were changed to which candidates."

EDIT: And I agree with you on not trusting any of the swamp, including R's. Sad.

You had the option to read about it before too instead of tuning in every time...so what's the difference other than your team won?

You are probably naive enough to think the lack of negative coverage with Biden will be because he's so articulate and doesn't stay stupid things.

True, that is far worse than a president with a history of deviant behavior around women of all ages and has so much corruption in his family, you have to assume he is going to make decisions that are in the best interest of his family and not the country.

So you want a president that the country tunes out and doesn't pay attention to what they have to say? What a messed up world you want to live in.

When people go to sleep on Joe they will wake up wondering why they are now property of the CCP trying to figure out wtf happened....They voted for him will be what happened.

Yet another foible of mine to add to the list - just enough naivety about the lack of negative coverage about Biden to think he's so articulate and doesn't say stupid things.

Or it could be that I don't think Biden isn't going to be motivated by or crow about his TV ratings, and therefore be less inclined to puffery, hyperbole, and the dramatic, so it may lend itself more to a leisurely perusal the next day rather than watching live to see what he'll say next for effect.
