Dang. There was a thread on GB but I used to love the Luby's on S Texas in Bryan. Broiled fish fillet, fried okra, salad and pecan pie w/coffee for dessert. There was a little, eccentric English lady who worked the beverage cart there and never failed to keep the iced tea and coffee topped up along with her banter. This was in the mid-late 80's.

Every visit since I was 6 years old.

Don't go but once a year these days. But it was always comforting to know it was there anytime I felt nostalgic for the only out to eat place we went to on a regular basis growing up.

I'm in my late twenties and loved Luby's growing up. I still try and make two trips a year. Their mac and cheese absolutely slaps.

Think I will burst a move over to the one on Blanco tomorrow for some meatloaf, mash taters, green beans, and jalapeo corn bread. Ice tea with lemon.

What about Fuddruckers? I always liked their burgers, but all the ones near me have shut down. Hasn't really changed much in 30+ years. Probably why I like it, and why they are shutting down.

For a time my roommates and I would go to the Luby's each week, Tuesdays I believe, and pile food on the tray almost like John Belushi, all for roughly $5. That was fine eating. And I remember that little eccentric English lady well - she was memorable to be so well remembered 30-something years later.
