As Concerned Moderate has explained to us: whatever branch of government Dems control should have limitless, unchecked power while any branch they don't control should be a powerless vestigial organ!

It just SOUNDS like hypocrisy but really it's patriotism!

EOs still suck. And hopefully Trump makes this hurt the dems bad enough so that EO powers are curtailed in the future and at the very least can be undone.

Yes, he did. Putting aside that DACA wasn't an EO, at no point did Trump ever argue or claim that he wanted "EO powers to be stopped."

As a concerned moderate why in the hell would I want democrats to have limitless power. The thing that concerns me about this is ot sets the stage for president AOC to ban all fossil fuels and outlaw capitalism in 2028.

Liberals are pure scum.

I may think that this EO is wrong and illegal, but still smile at how it ends up putting Democrats in the position of fighting to stop the help that Trump is trying to give.

It's a bad look for the Dems.

I think a lot of people will also remember Obama's "I've got a pen" statement and will see right through the Dems "He can't do that, that's Congress' job" wailing.

I also am certain that some anti-Trumper will post something about "whataboutism".

I'll just grin.

Liberalism is never the answer, especially when liberalism caused the problem.

Why does Levin saying anything mean a damn in the real world? I don't base my principles on talking heads' ideologies.

DACA was a directive from Janet Napolitano.

What is an EBM?

Quote:

A presidential memorandum is a type of directive issued by the president of the United States to manage and govern the actions, practices, and policies of the various departments and agencies found under the executive branch of the United States government. It has the force of law and is usually used to delegate tasks, direct specific government agencies to do something, or to start a regulatory process.[1] There are three types of presidential memoranda: presidential determination or presidential finding, memorandum of disapproval, and hortatory memorandum.[2]

Sometimes used interchangeably, an executive order is a more prestigious form of executive action that must cite the specific constitutional or statutory authority the president has to use it.[1] Unlike executive orders, memoranda are not required by law to be published in the Federal Register, but publication is necessary in order to have "general applicability and legal effect".[3] The Federal Register gives publication priority to executive orders and presidential proclamations over memoranda.[4] Memoranda can be amended or rescinded by executive orders or another memorandum, but executive orders take legal precedence and cannot be changed by a memorandum.[3]
