Howdy,

Your state reps and senators will be canvassing their districts and conducting townhalls over the next few weeks. The state, county and local revenue has been dramatically decreased do to the irrational reaction to the kung flu. They will be trying to justify raising taxes at every level of government. Now's the time to get them on the record and then hold them accountable.

I'd like everyone to pressure them into committing to ALL avenues of revenue generation, not just raising existing taxes because our family budgets has been equally impacted.

I want them to open casino gambling in Texas. There's no reason casinos in neighboring states should have their parking lots filled with Texas license plates. It is also not the governments role to "protect" the poor because they will lose all their money. If you believe the government should protect them from their own selves, then you're just as bad as progressives.

I don't smoke pot, but it should also be legalized as a potential revenue stream. Let businesses prohibit their employees from smoking via drug tests and consequences. That's what they're doing now by enforcing this bs mask requirements because the state made them the enforcement mechanism. So legalize it and tax it, let the business owners decide if they'll permit their employees to partake.

These are just 2 off the top of my head and would like to see what others think and recommend to our elected officials. However, make no mistake, all levels of government WILL increase revenue to make up for the kung flu. It's time we make them pursue all avenues of revenue generation to lessen the burdens on our families.

I am ok with gambling, casinos etc, but government is bloated at every level.

There are too many takers and not enough makers. We have reduce the size of government. We have to means test welfare.

These idiots have reduced the GDP, let them pay for it too.

Although true, they're not going to do that even as much as we want to. Some localities are already considering doubling property tax rates. Then you can bet there will be school bonds piled on top of that.

So propose something or don't ***** when your taxes skyrocket.

How about a higher tax rate for the folks ifrom California and New York who have moved to Texas. It should make feel at home Also a straight up one time relocation fee for all other first time residents.

You want a sensible tax. Tax 10cent per piece of junk mail that goes directly from mail box to trash can. Also that the paper used in that junk mail has to be paper made in Texas.

Just curious...have you ever spent more than 24 hours in an a small oil town in W. Texas?

Throw in casinos...think Dodge City or Tombstone.

Agreed. State and local governments are the ones we need to put pressure on the most.

Cut ****ing spending, do it now. Legalize gambling and pot. Incentivize family structures, not single motherhood.

OK with the gambling.

As far as the MJ......the business is not the "enforcer" of the government via drug testing, etc. Businesses drug test employees for safety and more so for liability reasons. If the employee has "drugs" in their system or has been doing them, then their (the employee) involvement in an accident of any kind can exponentialize the financial damages via lawsuit, or negate them if their employee was not at fault and they themselves are seeking damages. And yes, an employee that tests positive and actually was the cause could/would/has sued employers for letting them work "under the influence". It is a Pandora's Box that is already open to a degree, but legalizing it would swing the lid wide open.

Raising taxes in Texas means mainly property taxes. Get rid of wildlife exemptions and agricultural exemptions and start making rich landowners pay a far share.

No one in Texas owns a home. They commit to spend money for it then pay the government rent to live there. If they don't pay there rent the government removes them from the house. Meanwhile people with millions in raw land pay a fraction of taxes in relation to value. Very few of these people feed anyone with there land.

Abolish personal property taxes and go with consumption/sales taxes. I also agree that the size of government needs to be reduced by 50%.

I currently have land worth over $2k an acre for home sites. I can produce about $100 an acre in wheat in good years. Should I pay the $2k taxes or the $100 taxes?
