Apparently diversity only goes so far...

Quote:

The celebration continued Wednesday for the U.S. women's soccer team after its historic Women's World Cup title, even as questions resurfaced about why one of the best players in the nation wasn't there.
Jaelene Hinkle, a 26-year-old star for the North Carolina Courage professional team, has been called the top left defender in the U.S. game, but she wasn't selected for the national team a decision that may have had more to do with politics than prowess.

In 2017, Hinkle turned down a call-up from the national team for a pair of international friendlies after learning that the players would wear rainbow-themed jerseys in honor of Gay Pride Month. She said later that the uniform conflicted with her Christian faith....

Hinkle has not played for the national team since. After she was left off the World Cup roster, coach Jill Ellis told reporters that the decision was "solely based on soccer," an explanation greeted with widespread skepticism.

Apparently she thinks sports are about fair competition and representing your nation and not just another platform for liberal victimhood identity politics

Bake the cake. Wear the rainbow jersey. Or else. Look at how tolerant and diverse we are.

I'm sure the fact that the HC Jill Ellis is married to a woman had absolutely no part in that decision.

Edit for grammar

If she sues them in North Carolina, she will win.

You can't let a Norwegian mane grow a beard in the army for religious reasons, and then ask a Christian to support gay pride.

The plaintiffs will have to make a great case that it was political, but the right leaked email or testimony would burn her down.

She refused to wear the rainbow team jersey and declined joining the team in the past.
Being passed over would happen in many work places to people who don't seem to be "team players."

Hard to play on a team when you say you wont wear the uniform of said team.

Originally I was thinking that I would refuse to watch the USWNT until Rapinho left. Now I'm thinking I will never watch them again. At least the men are patriotic still. I will watch them.

Gay pride is the dumbest thing ever. "We're normal, let's take to the streets in banana hammocks and pasties to celebrate it. And hijack the rainbow, too, for some reason."

My company has a LGBTQ + allies group. I would not be passed up for a promotion because I didn't attend an event they put on. Your arguement is BS.

One of the best players in the nation according to whom? The only person's judgement that matters is Jill Ellis.

She declined two call ups. Obviously she isn't that interested in playing.

In soccer, it's very common for players to go on and off the team. It's not until the World Cup or the Olympics that the premier players are called up. When it's friendly games, you often have a few top rank players, and lots of second and third tier players getting their shot.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the Biblical story of Noah, and God destroying the world in a flood because of sexual wickedness.

According to coach Jill Ellis, when she tried to call her up for the friendlies. And according to everyone who follows women's soccer.

Quote:

She declined two call ups.

One call up for two friendly games. Exhibitions, in other words. How many pro players skip the NFL Pro Bowl or the MLB All Star game? Lots of them.

She declined the call up because she would be forced to wear uniform that goes against her religious belief, not because she was not interested in playing.

Seems like Jill Ellis and the USWNT called her bluff. The left back that played in the World Cup, Crystal Dunn, was the best LB in the tournament and one of the bigger reasons they won.

I have no issues whatsoever with homosexuality.

But why is an American national sports team wearing ANY sort of jersey that celebrates some cause other than the United States?
