That has zero bearing on the numbers involved, beyond providing the cover of plausible deniability for those unwilling to deal with the issue.

It is precisely pointing out that "the issue" is not dealt with by an entity. It's a lot of singular issues dealt with by thousands of different entities.

The SBC has no authority over local church matters. They cannot close their eyes or hide corruption because it's not theirs to deal with.

Exactly why are you intentionally being ignorant?

The report being released shows that the SBC is NOT washing their hands of the whole thing.

Quite the opposite, they investigated it and publicized it.

Sorry you can't accept the fact that the SBC is a voluntary association, not a hierarchy with the ability to control local churches.

All they can do is advise and try to provide leadership, which is exactly what they are doing.

At the end of the day the convention cant do a single thing to any church.

This is just more of the new SBC doing everything it can to run down its brand in the name of social awareness. GenX pastors are a bunch of useless soyboys.

And I am not anti-Catholic by any means. I am pro-truth, though.
