"Fellow academician" was a regular term for the Soviets enterprising citizens, not realizing raw intelligence proves jack ****, but the ability to accomplish, build, solve problems, and compete, are the real intelligence.

All three replies were perfect, and fit right in line with the collective state reasoning.

To a degree (no pun intended), the top academic achiever of any class was always perceived as a means of helping the State prove itself to be better, more powerful, and a marketing coup for "the party". Every communists/socialist/fascist country will always have the problem of enterprising citizens, although Germany was able to piggy back their industry to provide munitions for the war before 1933.

That's why China has been so very good as stealing our creations, as well as Russia before that. It's an absolute necessity for their economy.

Sorry for the derail, it's just important.
