Why are NeverTrump Republicans endorsing Hillary over Gary Johnson?

Meg Whitman, who ran for governor of California as a Republican, is now endorsing Hillary. If she were truly a fiscal conservative, shouldn't she be endorsing Gary Johnson? Putting another tax and spender in the Oval Office isn't going to change anything. My hypothesis is people like Whitman think that if Trump loses, then they can go back to nominating a Romney/Jeb!-type centrist in the next cycle. Of course, they fail to realize that no matter which Republican is nominated in the future, they will be branded by the media as a dangerous, extremist right-winger.

In my opinion, these people would be better off trying to boost the Libertarian ticket. Raising the profile of the Libertarian Party, rather than supporting a big government Dem, is far more likely to result in getting a fiscally conservative president in the near future.

Clearly someone willing to financially support and vote for Hillary is no longer a conservative in any way. She may have run as a republican, but clearly isnt conservative.

One more reason people are so anti-establishment:

Establishment republicans would back a criminal democrat before choosing a better 3rd candidate.

Is there a #Nevertrump party? Why are you asking people who won't vote for him why other people who won't vote for him are voting for another liberal? We don't know, but we warned you that people wouldn't vote for Trump because he is a detestable liberal clown.

Because there is a legitimate fear that educated people see in Trump bringing an authortarian and fascist regime to this country. Hitler and Mussolini both came to power through a democratic process originally with almost identical Trump platforms and social issues

1. Come to power at a time where the difference between the working class and upper class is so vast the middle class is starting to disappear completely.

2. Blame the working classes problems on someone else - in WWII it was the Jews (BLM, Muslims, Mexicans, women, gays etc)

3. Anyone who disagrees with you an intellectual snob and should be ignored, dismissed, but mostly taken down a peg.

4. Focus on Nationlism and Isolationism as the way to stop whoever you are blaming the working class problems on.

5. Claim you are the only one that can fix it.

There is a reason that life-long Republican's are saying "country before party". Trump is symptomatic of something truly scary throughout history. Something the US will not weather and come out the other side of "ok". Only the blind can't see it

That and giving the libertarians legitimacy in this election would have long term impacts for years to come, especially at the down ticket elections.

Basically a nevertrumper might vote Clinton this one time but they might vote libertarian every time once they realize it is an option

Some are endorsing Clinton because they believe a lot of the stuff posted here about it being a binary choice and they quite reasonably regard Trump as worse than Clinton.

Meg Whitman is the failed leader of Hewlett Packard. She has to support the globalist candidate. Her company's business model is built around outsourcing everything they can. Last round was white collar jobs from the US to Mexico, Costa Rica, Bulgaria (could have been Romania or Hungary), and Thailand. Who they hire there won't have a clue what they are doing but the few people left in the US will be there to fix it.

If it wasn't Hillary running, I'd probably enjoy watching the Republicans suffer through a Trump campaign.

All these years, so many Republicans have told me that even though they have some strong Libertarian leanings, they refuse to vote Libertarian because the Libertarians can't possibly win.

This is the year that the Republicans seriously need the Libertarians to win to save us from Hillary. Even now, so many of them feel like they have to vote for the biggest Bozo to ever run for President because of the damned Democrats.

Two of the most evil characters to run for President in US politics, and yet the Democrats and the Republicans are floundering around trying to vote for the lesser of the two evils. They're both evil -- don't vote for either of them. If you do, then you deserve the results.

So when Hillary wins and screws up will the excuse for those voting for her be that Trump would have screwed up worse? Will people own the Hillary vote or just deflect or deny like they did with Obama.

I disagree. You can't assume he would screw up the same way Hillary does. That's nothing more than deflecting. If someone votes for Hillary or Trump they should own it. It's like bleeders on the football board who ***** and scream run the ball and when we run it and it doesn't work they scream something else.

Vote for neither if that's the case

First, the exact same thing is true of Hillary.

Secondly, rhetoric aside, Hillary is no real threat to the Chamber of Commerce type of republicans. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Wall Street she represents more or less the status quo fiscally. The hard left rhetoric is just that, a sop for the Bernie voters' votes.

Libtards never own any problems they cause with their single minded March toward their socialist utopia. Just look how quickly they turned Venezuela into a $h1+hole. The left is throwing every thing at Trump to try and take him and his supporters out. Trump has fight in him. The left has absolutely has no compunction about lying and any other unscrupulous method to achieve the win.
