small, homogeneous countries can do programs such as this. This same fact is why gov't in the US should be dominate at the state/local level, not federal.

we're already doing it, it just isn't consolidated into one program that makes it understandable

One straight payment, do with as you wish, no other welfare and you can't vote while on the dole

Lots of problems solved...but it hurts the Libs strategy of buying votes with other people's money so of course we can't have that. Apparently its your fundamental right to trade your vote for someone else's money and empower the politicians who make those promises of other peoples money

...honestly Libtards, how do you justify this political philosophy?

I have always said I would prefer just giving the poor cash rather than all these stupid bloated government programs.

Doc, that has always been one of my ideas as well with a little twist. I think the dear leader has talked of "skin in the game", why then don't we establish a "living wage" type agreement where as one has to work and then whatever they make under the "living wage" the government chips in to bring their wage up to that amount. The problem with the system is that it is easier to not work and get benefits than to work. If the system was set up where one HAD to work to get anything then there would be more competition for the better jobs and better workers. The lazy would be on the bottom and those who chose to achieve would climb the ladder!!The only thing else would be to either stop or limit voting of those on the program so Washington would have to quit buying votes by giving stuff away!!

I think the Swiss have to have an alternative goal here. They are smart enough to know this will cause their prices to inflate to a level that will neutralize what ever amount of money they hand out.

This would be a clever way to keep outside poors out. It's already a difficult country to immigrate. They have a minimum net worth rule for new citizens based on age. This would bolster that wall of entry.

It is absolutely astounding how so many folks in the World these days are so pitifully ignorant of many of the basic laws of economics and human nature.

I understand those that seek to gain power by perpetuating populist ideas, but some just completely believe that these ridiculous concepts are actually good and will work.

Apparently history is not enough to illustrate socialisms failure - it will seemingly take the destruction of the human race to show these idiots the truth.

Let me know how that goes after a generation or two.

In essence we have the same here. For anyone born in recent history, one can live an entire lifetime if one is skilled at playing the game. Stossel did a special on this last month. When one adds up housing subsidies, health care, food stamps, free phones, no income tax, welfare payments, unemployment benefits, disability payments (example: fake emotional issues), child care, school lunch programs, etc., one can live an entire lifetime without having to work a single day. A liberal's paradise.

Have any of you actually been to Switzerland? It's probably the most conservative (at least fiscally) place in Europe. This thing stands no chance at the ballot box.

I think every country on the planet should vote for this. In fact lets just make the entire universe nonprofit. Whatever amount of money exists on the planet right now, divide that amount by the number of people on earth and that's what everyone has.

what could possibly go wrong under this scenario?
