Random thought based on some things I'm reading and listening to:
I don't go out of my way to be woke and I think the internet mob cancelling people is often dumb and half-cocked. However, in another light it's a way for the little people to finally wield some power. Look at Weinstein. He's rich, connected, and controls opportunities for many people trying to fulfill their dreams. He took advantage to basically turn casting agencies into escort services and prey upon young women for decades. Bill Cosby same situation. Prior to "cancel culture", these guys are still doing their thing. They have connections in the press, money, and influence. No way these guys get knocked off their predatory perch before all this happens. So "cancel culture" can be a real force for good, driven by people with no money, authority, or influence. You could look at it as a modern day mob, or you could look at it as another way the meek are inheriting the Earth. No one dies, but jerks get called out and endure consequences. No matter how powerful.
It will be interesting to see which culture wins out, if any. Christian morality driving consequences, woke morality driving consequences, or the instances like Weinstein where they clearly overlap.
