I'm trying to think of a more amusing reply if I frame this as a either religious or philosophical issue.

Please consider forgiving me. There isn't a science board. Didn't want to put it on the political board..but

I don't think the article supports the certitude of the thread title. The article seems to indicate that it's inconclusive.

Well, either way, it's certainly related to one of the enduring and unsolvable mysteries of existence, so I think you're good here.

Inconclusive appears to suggest that it's a myth to me.

We should consider doing a study on nuns.

"Inconclusive" indicates that there are far too many factors and unknowns to be able to determine the validity of the theory. It may be valid. It may not be. Inconclusive doesn't mean with any sense of certainty that it's a "myth".

Sure. But Karen tells her boyfriend or husband this and it is not grounded in science.

Semantics.

Again, that's not really what the article is saying. It's inconclusive. Some studies have seemed to support it. Some have seemed to counter it. May be fact. May be opinion. It's inconclusive.

Nor does it matter.

Is this really any different than you telling everyone that it's a myth? Neither position is confirmed, but they're statements based on anecdotal evidence that have studies both sides can point to, but is likely unknowable due to a multitude of factors.

So? You state it's a myth. The data is inconclusive and doesn't support either.

Does it really bother you that some women talk about it as if it's a fact?

If I could edit the title, which I can't, I would change it to opinion.

It's merely an opinion that women sync up during their M-cycle.

You can say "menstrual".

I always kind of taken it as a fact, but thinking on it I can't really see a biological advantage. If it were true I think you'd expect to find it in other primates.

I always figured it would reduce the murder count and increase the birth rate if they knew to stay clear of all women around a certain time.

If something is inconclusive then it is a myth or opinion. No? I don't get it.

Well, science can't back up the claim that cycles link up together. So either way.

It isn't a myth or an opinion. Women's periods sync up.
It's too trivial for science to study.

Obviously it's not too trivial, as they've tried studying it and the results have been inconclusive. Then again, scientists study trivial things all the time.
