Pentecostals/charismatics provide about 87 % of all Christian international social relief according to research proffered in a study by Donald Miller and Tetsunao Yamamori. ( Global Pentecostalism: The New Face of Christian Social Engagement published by the University of California Press, 2007)

Contrary to the stereotypes often presented by those who categorize Pentecostals as aligned with the political right wing, the study excludes such politically-motivated critiques and concentrates on the data before them. I know that when in Ghana two years ago, I was astounded by the proliferation of Assembly of God churches in the southern and Ashante regions; they were literally everywhere. The Church of God (Cleveland, TN) ran an orphanage in the north central part of the country as well, and my wife's medical colleagues were almost all pentecostals or charismatics.

44% of the Assemblies of God attenders are non-white ethnicities and the global pentecostals/charismatics number about 650 million plus at the current time. All this came about after the Azusa Street revival of the early 20th century.

This is posted because Amy Coney Barrett, a Catholic Charismatic, will be the focus of much speculation in the days ahead regarding her religious faith and its impact on court decisions.
