Last summer, I started a thread on the General and Politics boards that reinforced that Aggies (and particularly TexAgs Aggies) are truly amazing.

I am a member of an organization called BvB Dallas that raises money for Alzheimer's research and care through a particularly unique fundraiser, a powderpuff flag football game. Each August, we throw the uniform on and play a game in the historic Cotton Bowl. Last year, we were able to raise over $550,000 that went directly back to beneficiaries making significant strides in research and care to help those currently afflicted.
This year, our season has been essentially decimated by COVID. Our game was slated for August 8th, but with current state of things, we are unable to host any in-person events, especially something of that scale. Because of this, we have been shaken, but not deterred. Articles like this demonstrate that our efforts are needed now more than ever.

One of my favorite parts of being a member of BvB Dallas was serving those in our area nursing homes. We spent time with some really great people playing bingo, decorating for the holidays, making crafts and reading books. I haven't seen those people in over two months (including my own father who suffers with Alzheimer's and dementia) and may never see them again. This pandemic has hit the nursing home communities hard and we hope to provide help to them in one of the only ways we can right now, financially.
Last year, this board helped me raise an incredible amount of money in a very short time. I was touched by the personal stories shared and honored to play for many of your loved ones. I'm asking for help yet again. I know that it is a difficult time to ask for help (and my expectations are very small), but if you are able, please consider donating. I know many of you have relatives and friends who are in this Alzheimer's fight with me. Even if you are only able to contribute $5-10, it will go a long way in helping us reach our adjusted 2020 goal of $200,000. We are sitting at $109,000 and are only two weeks away from what would have been our closing event of the season, the game at the Cotton Bowl. Personally, I am still short of my $5000 goal and would love nothing more than to get there.I have upped my original goal of $5000 to $7000 as many of our players have experienced their own health and financial hardships and have had to put BvB Dallas on the back burner.

Even if you cannot donate, please say a prayer or send positive thoughts to our organization and those who suffer with Alzheimer's as this is definitely not the summer we had hoped for.
Thanks, Gig 'em, and God Bless!
