Seems very appropriate for these times. Maybe it is just me.

I know, right. I, too, am eager to preach the gospel in Rome.

That would be cool, right?

It's appropriate for all times. That's the nice thing about the Bible.

I knew a Calvinist would just have to correct something about my post. It was predestined.

My interpretation differs. The difference is that I can tolerate your interpretation also. And look forward to seeing you after Jesus returns and resurrects us.

We have a Calvinist in our weekly Bible study. He is fine as long as we do not disagree with him out loud.

Indeed. And as we all know there's nothing new under the Sun, as described time and time again in the OT. This one comes to mind:

Jer 38:4-6, 8-10

In those days, the princes said to the king:
"Jeremiah ought to be put to death;
he is demoralizing the soldiers who are left in this city,
and all the people, by speaking such things to them;
he is not interested in the welfare of our people,
but in their ruin."
King Zedekiah answered: "He is in your power";
for the king could do nothing with them.
And so they took Jeremiah
and threw him into the cistern of Prince Malchiah,
which was in the quarters of the guard,
letting him down with ropes.
There was no water in the cistern, only mud,
and Jeremiah sank into the mud.

Ebed-melech, a court official,
went there from the palace and said to him:
"My lord king,
these men have been at fault
in all they have done to the prophet Jeremiah,
casting him into the cistern.
He will die of famine on the spot,
for there is no more food in the city."
Then the king ordered Ebed-melech the Cu****e
to take three men along with him,
and draw the prophet Jeremiah out of the cistern before
he should die.

Like Paul, Jeremiah and the other prophets bravely spoke Truth to the debased power of their times. They also paid the price. Will we be called to pay that same price as our country lurches toward Perdition? I suspect so.

I didn't post an interpretation. Just a chapter.

It is very troubling but clearly foretold in Scripture. I am ready for Jesus to come back and I pray for mercy and repentance for our country.

I believe secular western society is more wicked than Rome at its height and wonder how long this can keep getting worse generation after generation.

Western society probably doesn't have long and then the process will start all over again.

Humans!
