Forgot to add to my previous definitions:
The etymology of "economy" is from the Greek for "household."
Obviously we are far from this more proper understanding now.
People are NOT primarily economic actors. More important, they are NOT fungible.
The next time some libertarian - or worse, a teenage Randian - goes on a rant, ask them to think through some examples....
the "libertarian" Somalia, home of the weakest central government in the world? Statist sometimes and free-market sometimes (but always prosperous post-civil war) Taiwan? Under the very heavy hand of Lee Kuan Yew in Sinapore? Under the magnificent, U.S.-flavored Constitution of Liberia?
