"What is that?"
"That is a cyborg dumpster."
"Uh, you mean that dumpster is partly organic?"
"Yeah, it scavenges both organic and inorganic parts from refuse and uses those to grow and maintain itself."
"Is it alive?"
"Well, since it is partly alive, I guess "yes".
"And why is it moving slowly toward us?"
"Because it has not yet devised a faster locomotion."
"No, I mean what is its motivation? Is it hungry...for us?"
"Not sure, but I think we should step back...Oh, look at this roadkill, a dead cat...I'll bet the dumpster is moving toward it."
"I'll test by picking up the body by its tail and flinging it into the dumpster to see if it stops advancing on us."
SLURP!
"Hmm, it has stopped and seems to be blinking a thankyou in Morse Code."
"So we have a lively, possibly sentient dumpster cleaning the streets...
what will science think of next?"

I think I screwed up the story...the final question should have been
"What will the dumpster evolve next, better wheels or vocalization in place of code?"

In answer to Astro: Just my idea of fun.
