Seems like everything on the up and up? Police doing their jobs and diocese cooperating.

Could be happening in a baptist or non-denominational church, so no need to burn Catholics.

yah, nothing happening in the Catholic church to warrant an alarm.

The story calls it a "raid", yet mention further down in the story that the diocese believes that it is fully cooperating.

Let the civil authorities do their job and report the facts once they are known. News headlines are indistinguishable from clickbait.

In general, I find the moving of priests around and shielding them from prosecution appalling.

However, in this specific example, this does not seem to be happening.

After reading that article, that's what you were upset / concerned about?

As far as the raid, it's a really big deal if they find stuff the diocese didn't turn over. If they don't find anything new, it's the dreaded nothing-burger.

It just reads like sloppy reporting. If it were an actual unannounced raid, or a disagreement on the degree of cooperation, that would be worth explaining.

There's an investigation, good. Throw the ******* under the jail along with anyone that covered it up if he's guilty, but I didn't get anything new out of the story.

I watched the DA's TV interview (that guy loved being on camera, FYI) He had a good quote on cooperation. Just because the Cardinal is cooperating, that doesn't mean everyone that works for him is, or that the Cardinal knows everything the people below him are doing.

Amid Warrant for Files, Houston Chancery Has(n't) Been Raided

Quote:

To be clear, early indications are that the search is limited in scope the order for files issued by the district attorney of one of the ten counties that comprise the Galveston-Houston archdiocese (and not its demographic core in Harris County, at that), jurisdictional issues are bound to arise quickly. Accordingly, in the broad sweep of things, the significance of today's move is more symbolic than anything and to a staggering degree, at that.
Quote:

In response to this morning's development, the following statement has just emerged from Houston Chancery:
Quote:

"This morning, the District Attorney of Montgomery County executed a search warrant for records and information related to an ongoing investigation. The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston continues to cooperate, as we have since the outset, with this process. In fact, consistent with Cardinal DiNardo's pledge of full cooperation, the information being sought was already being compiled. Also, "secret archives" is merely a Church term pertaining to confidential documents kept in a secure manner for the protection of the privacy of individuals not unlike medical records. Pending additional information or developments, the Archdiocese will have no further comment on this ongoing investigation. Finally, please note any use of the term "raid" is an inaccurate and unprofessional reference to a request for records to a party that has been cooperating and will continue to cooperate fully."

The catholic church needs to purge the modernism that has been infesting the church since Vatican II, and if a bunch of pedo priests and those who have protected them need to be burned at the stake so be it.
