I've crossed paths with these folks, and most of my career has been spent using the theory of evolution to try to make better proteins, so this is cool. Like with most of the prizes it's too bad it only can be split 3 ways (and that you have to be living, which excluded one of my old bosses who made major contributions to this field)
Also, the chemists are pissed that yet another prize in chemistry goes to proteins. I'm not sure synthetic chemistry will ever win again.
