Looking for some new material. Listen a lot when I drive, or work out. Interested in areas of Religion and history (or other general information topics). Have used the Overcast free app- enjoy the abiltiy to speed up the talks to play them faster.

My favorite podcasts:
1) Catholic Answers- Very good- thousands of talks on any topic. History, Bible, Church Teacher, Social Issues
2) Word on Fire- Fr. Baron- show and homilies
3) Understanding the Scriptures- Carson Weber (Aggie) he goes over the Scott Hahn bible study- very good

Religion Podcasts- Looking for any topic, also want to study the writings of the early church fathers, also want to hear the fulton sheen talks- can not find him in podcast.

History Podcasts- have not found a series that I really like yet- listen to Freaknomics Radio and Stuff you should know- howstuff works. They are ok, not great.

He's very entertaining if occasionally frustrating with his analysis, definitely worth listening to.

I love RadioLab. It's more science and social science than history or religion, but it's really worth listening to.

I really like Jordan Cooper and Bryan Wolfmueller's stuff, but that is decidedly Lutheran content (although Cooper sways pretty East sometimes)

My brother *loves* hardcore history podcast and anything history related. I can ask him for some other suggestions

the one on the Toyota "unintended acceleration" scandal was interesting, not necessarily because I learned anything new about the issue, but because it was kind of funny to learn that he's a "car guy". would not have guessed that.

I enjoy listening to Matt Chandler's sermons from the Village Church.

I third (or whatever it is at this point) Hardcore History. In Our Time by the BBC is great. They're thirty to forty-five minute podcasts covering a variety of topics. They have separate channels for History, Science, etc. The History of Rome podcast is also very good.

History of Byzantium. Great history. Collides with religion a great deal.

Catholic stuff you should know is pretty good. Also Catholic: under the hood is a podcast about church history that is pretty interesting.

The Institute of Catholic Cultire has literally hundreds of great podcasts that are both informative and interesting
