Both are political AND religious movements....

Both dictate doctrine in a top down manner...

Submission is demanded to the institution...

Pre-reformation the catholic church killed just as many individuals as Islam.... Catholics are not allowed to be anti-muslim...

Without the protestant reformation the Catholics might still be burning people in town squares as heretics...

I agree with you on the first three. You're drifting out of your lane on the fourth and completely in the bar ditch on the fifth.

1. Same for much of Evangelicalism.
2. Doctrine should be from man and not God? Awesome.
3. So weird. Never witnessed that in 4 decades as a Papist.
4. The religion killed people or was it people using religion as an excuse to be ****ty to others? And you really shouldn't be anti-<insert group of people> but anti-<insert bad things done by some>. We do consider Islam to be false.
5. Now you're just being silly.

Why we are awesome...

We (Papists) make better beer. (Trappists)
Fish Fridays
Better hats, and some of us sometimes carry sabres in church.
Bingo nights.

Protestant """""""""""""CHURCHES""""""""""""

Quote:

Therefore, there exists a single Church of Christ, which subsists in the Catholic Church, governed by the Successor of Peter and by the Bishops in communion with him.58 The Churches which, while not existing in perfect communion with the Catholic Church, remain united to her by means of the closest bonds, that is, by apostolic succession and a valid Eucharist, are true particular Churches.59 Therefore, the Church of Christ is present and operative also in these Churches, even though they lack full communion with the Catholic Church, since they do not accept the Catholic doctrine of the Primacy, which, according to the will of God, the Bishop of Rome objectively has and exercises over the entire Church.60

On the other hand, the ecclesial communities which have not preserved the valid Episcopate and the genuine and integral substance of the Eucharistic mystery,61 are not Churches in the proper sense
; however, those who are baptized in these communities are, by Baptism, incorporated in Christ and thus are in a certain communion, albeit imperfect, with the Church.62 Baptism in fact tends per se toward the full development of life in Christ, through the integral profession of faith, the Eucharist, and full communion in the Church.63

There you have it folks, from the mouth of the ever knowledgeable then Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, the Orthodox churches are true Churches; Protestant heretics retain some tether to the Mystical body of Christ through valid baptism, but are not fit to be called Churches, merely ecclesial communities

Christianity is political. "Christ is King" is a political statement, especially when viewed through 1st century lens in Roman Empire. Our politics are Kingdom politics, though. Not man's.

2. Yea your right. Next time the pope has a meeting with God let me know so i can send my requests.

3. Does the church not excommunicate people....

4. Oh got it... Thats like saying nazism is not bad... only the people using it... i think the idea is bad and the people are bad.. when the church's POLICY was to burn poeple at the stake.... the people and the idea are bad...

5. No way to rebut I see... I guess time has this magical way of enlightening people ... too bad it has not happened for islam... you can thank us protestants for bringing the catholic church into modern times and enlightening them ...

You haven't backed your assertions with any facts but you expect rebuttals to contain them? Too funny. If you want an actual discussion present a real argument supplemented with facts. I'm not going to be drawn into a discussion based upon unjustified assumption.
