I know there are some fans of prog metal on the forum. In case you have not already seen this, DT recently put out a video for the first single on their new album, the first with Mike Portnoy back in the band.

I think the song sounds great and reminiscent of the Black Clouds/Train of Thought time period. It's great just seeing Portnoy playing with them again.

The album is coming out in February.

I listened to the beginning of it and immediately said, "Train of Thought."

Honestly, I kind of checked out on DT with the last album. Distance Over Time brought me back from the brink owing to The Astonishing (brutal), but the last one was kind of a regression to me.

The main thing is I'm just losing a taste for their brand of prog. Some of the younger instrumental bands, such as Intervals and And So I Watch You From Afar, are more my style these days. Plus Frost*, who have a new one coming out soon. Jem Godfrey's synth leads are about the only ones I like. And he and John Mitchell can both sing really well.
