It's been a while since there was a Predator movie & this one looks to take things into an interesting different direction.

Quote:

20th Century Studios has released the first tease for Dan Trachtenberg's Prey, which will find a lone Predator arriving in the Comanche nation 300 years in the past.

Comanches were enemies of the Apache, so you know who I'm pulling for.

Comanche were a-holes who were every bit as bad as ISIS or the cartels today. Gonna be hard to pull for them in any context.

My money is on the Comanches ultimately taking down the illegal alien.

Pretty sure he could murder the entire tribe without much competition…

Come on, this is Hollywood. This will be about a confused young warrior trying to find his sexual identity amidst the chaos of an unknown "alien" threat. He just wants to live a happy life but fate has other things in mind. After being raped by the predator he tames his inner demons, finds love in the unlikeliest of places, and saves his village elders thus cementing his future as chieftain.

So......bad ass 1987 Arnold could barely take down a predator, yet a Comanche is somehow going to do it?

This time with an all female cast!

I'm pulling for the Predator in this one. The Comanches were a bad bunch.

The Predator should be glad he didn't run into the Native Americans in Mohawk (also a female revenge porn flick) and Bone Tomahawk (cannibals), assuming he survives the Comanches in this flick.

Superhuman spaceman with thermal vision, practical invisibility, and alien technology/weaponry VS stone age civilization living on an exposed plain, sheltered only be animal hides.

This one could be close...

The only other movie the director has made was 10 Cloverfield Lane, which I thought was good. Lots of tension & dialogue driven.

It gives me hope that this won't be a total sh*tshow like those Alien v Predator movies generally were.

Also, remember that despite all the firepower in the original Predator, Dutch (covered in cool wet mud) finally manages to cripple it with a primitive trap & he only did so because the creature decides to fight him hand to hand. I could see this movie taking a similar story line.

It's going to be interesting to see how they portray the Comanche. If this is truly set 300 years ago, I don't think they really had horses at that point and were thus a completely different culture than the ones Jack Hayes & Mackenzie fought against.

I feel like you're skipping the mud. Comanches probably had access to mud. Everyone knows all you need is mud to defeat Predators…until Predator 2…that's when Predators figured out that we figured out mud defeats their thermal imaging tech…RIP Gary Busey

I'm guessing / hoping there is a tie in here. Amazing if so.

This is the 17th / 18th century. They don't know what the **** thermal imaging is. This is going to end up Battlefield Earth dumb, which probably makes it worth watching.

Dutch didn't know the tech either. Dumb luck that he figured out it couldn't see him because of mud. Comanches will probably just think mud is magic.

He didn't need to know the alien tech to know what thermal imaging is. He was able to figure it out because by the 1980s, any military commando is going to know what thermal imaging is. Comanche Indians have zero knowledge that seeing body heat is even possible.

That is supposed to be equivalent? It's not even close. Unlike the US military, comanches tortured their enemies including children as a POLICY. Comanches CELEBRATED their atrocities, and unlike the US military, they never tried, convicted, nor imprison those who performed those atrocities. The fact that the comanches were wiped off the face of the Earth was a great thing for all of mankind. The same for ISIS. Maybe someday the cartels will get their turn.

Why not take Jeffery Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and Ted Bundy while you are at it? They are practically soul-mates with the comanches.

There was a serial killer in the Adrien Brody Predator movie. It didn't work out very well for him as he tried to reason with a predator and got butchered.

That navy seal is going to call you a unpatriotic commie then risk his life to save your unappreciated ass.

That Comanche is going to call you a white devil, slit your throat, scalp you, spit on your corpse, then steal anything of value off your person.

You are a constant source of amazement.
